See if anyone on NZH has one? Mine had a slight oil weep from the headgasket but was otherwise fine, it will no doubt be part of a coke can or something by now though
Yep will do, still calling around a few places. To be honest I'm not to bothered that its going to be using a bit of oil, I'm just not looking forward to replacing this bloody seal. Might start with replacing this seal this coming weekend, If I havent found a engine in Wgtn for cheap.
And with some more disappointing news, 1 week out of a car shows some lady decided she doesnt like the shape of my ek9's door.

I have the SOHC zc that came out of my shuttle, took it out at 217,xxxkms
Whats the condition of it Dan? To be honest If I was going to replace the engine im more looking for lower ks around the 150odd. Thank you though. At this stage im probably just going to replace the seal. If got work off on Friday so plan is to attack it then.
Ill let you know Geoff, cheers. Definitely going to go ahead with the seal first, its cheap to fix just takes a wee while.
Hell might even start with it tonight, MOTIVATION
Once I finally get this engine running fine with no leaks I'm popping around to your place to come look at the beagle. You cant say no, I already know where you live.
Started removing the gearbox after work today and we have success!
Well, half way done!
Parked at a mates place ready to attach this bastard.
Those little tables holding the car up are old army tank stands, they lol at the weight of the shuttle.
And gearbox finally out. Sorry for all the phone pictures, all I had with me.
While spending some time in the engine bay I also discovered the car has a brand new master cylinder, radiator, top radiator hose and the power steering, alternator and aircon belts are new. Yet to check the cambelt. The clutch also seemed reasonable new, had a good amount of life left. The flywheels is still fine and it looks like the flywheel bearing has been replaced. No pics yet sorry.
The culprit!
That fine black line/dirt/oil/stufff around the center of the seal is whats causing the oil leaking.
Plan is to get a new seal tomorrow and it all should be going back in on friday hopefully.
So on friday after work I cracked back on to it and got the seal replaced, finally oil leak free!
$24 seal taking me more than 8hours to replace, the bastard.
For anybody needing the info, the seal size is 80x100x10.
Today I gave the car its first full service. Replaced all the basic service stuff oil filter, oil, coolant etc except the rear diff oil, still need to do some research as whats the appropriate oil for it. When I removed the spark plugs to replace them I noticed the plugs itself was a bit loose and there was quite a bit of oil on top of the plug where the coil connects to the plug, although nearly no signs of oil at the sparking end (inside the cylinder).
So I went ahead and bought a rocker cover seal kit which allowed me to replace all 4 spark plugs seals as well as the big rocker cover seal.
Iv notice from replacing the spark plugs seals that the car has been smoking a lot less, atleast 50% less which is nice.
Car is driving a lot better now, certainly smoother. Theres a slight rattle coming from what Im assuming is the exhaust which is annoying the hell out of me so next mission is to track that down.
I also decided to see if I can fit one of the lips I got from the wrecking last week.
The lip I wanted on the front is from a mid 90's Mitsubishi Mirage. My aim was to have the lip fitted with my bull bars on and painted matt black.
Here's some photos of the first test fit. Overall it fitted quite nicely, its maybe 2cm to short in width for the car so I needed to give it a bit of a stretch to get on. Although once on, it aligned perfectly with the end of the bumper.
So far, quite happy with the fitment and look
I then started cutting it to fit the bull bar.
Then headed to the store to grab some sandpaper and paint, although got a bit distracted along the way..
And then the final picture of the lip painted and fitted.
Oh and I also tinted the fog lights yellow/amber.
Spent a total of $23 on fitting the lip, which I thought it pretty sweet.
Next is lowering the car a bit, Iv bought some Crx shocks with lowering springs.
Im not expecting it to be slammed, but it should sit a wee bit lower than it is now and drive a lot firmed.
My friend bought the ones your thinking off (pretty sure we're thinking of the same wheels, mid 80s wheel, 6poke, polished?) but in the long run ill buy them off him. I need to sell some of my other wheels first to make space.
But they will be miiiiiine, eventually/hopefully. I must have them.
Yep thats the ones, would look quite awesome on this and should fit with some mild guard rolling at the front (rear has heaps of room)
Should be right, even though the beagle is mid/early 90s it should still be/look period correct as Ef's are late 80s as well.
Rims are only 6.5 wide and with mid 20s offset so shouldn't need to much guard work, would it?
Ultimate plan would be to widen them to maybe 8s and put some chunky tyres on.
Lol im already planning to do things to wheels I don't even have. *self facepalm*
Anybody want to buy some of my wheels I have collected??!?! Need space.
Happy to ship to the US
Cheers dude, I love rummaging around junk yards!
RHC clips? What do you mean sorry?
RHD - right hand drive. He means the front clip of the vehicle, firewall forward pretty much, but often includes the dash and steering column/wheel. It's a big thing here in the states to convert your car to right hand drive cause it's more "JDM" I suppose.
Looks tough can't wait to see it lowered. any ideas on what wheels you'll be matching with it?
I have a set of wheels in mind at the moment, but nothing confirmed yet. Once I have them they will be announced lol mum always said I shouldn't count my chickens before they hatch.
So yesterday the lowering springs arrive at today I got some time to put them in.
As soon as I started I hit a brick wall. All the bottom suspension bolts were tight as can be. No way I was getting them off, no breaker bar was going to loosen them.
I popped around to the local tyre shop and they were luckily able to loosen the bolts for me with the rattle gun.
While the car was on the hoist I noticed it had some new RTA bushes installed quite recently.
They look to be Whiteline solid RTA bushes, which should help stiffen the rear of the car a bit.
And back to the suspension.
The combo is, EF Crx shocks with Jamex lowering springs at the front and Lovells springs at the rear.
I didnt choose the specific lowering springs and theres probably little to no difference between the two brands, they just came with the shocks.
Front, compared to OEM.
And rear compared to OEM.
The front of the car sits quite nice, not slammed or anything amazing but definitely low. The rear not so much.
Its not tooooo bad, but Id definitely like the rear to come down another inch or 2. Or 3.
Any way of achieving this which doesnt involve cutting the coil. Or the obvious of either a coilover or a circlip shock?
Overall the handling has improved significantly. Its like day and night, a lot less leeeaaaaning through corners.
I was expecting the suspension to be very hard and bouncy although its surprisingly soft, but firm.
Every day the shuttle grows more and more on me, I love this bloody thing already.
So much fun to drive, huge amount of space (well, compared to my ek), gets the odd LoL from bystanders.
Its just overall a lovely thing.
Huge difference in height! I like it. Even on the current wheels it looks very nice.
Like day and night haha rear only lower maybe 2 inches, but the front a huge amount.
Looks surprisingly tidy on the OEM 14s, quite like it as well actually :encouragement:

Sorry for cellphone pic.
Almost! na, its luckily not to bad. Just damage to the door, would of been a lot worse if the rear quarter was damaged.

Cheerio chap!
Keen for group shuttle photos, also get some sweet photos of your Ak for your sale thread.
Nope I haven't bought any wheels.

Killer wagon by the way. Looking really great
JDM for life etc shocker etc etc
Cheers man, Its slowly getting there.
I have a set of wheels in mind at the moment, but nothing confirmed yet. Once I have them they will be announced lol mum always said I shouldn't count my chickens before they hatch.
When I had my 15x7" +25et Works on the front I had to fold the inner lip over on the guards, that was with 195/55 tyres though
Oh sweet, that's not too bad and simple to do as well.
Cheers, will use that as a rough guide for when getting the wheels.

Yep, just that rear needs to come down a tad. Cheers though
Eventually ill hunt for some, its not on the priority list at the moment sadly.
