Double header updates!!
Polished the EX exhaust tips. Amazed at the difference. This exhaust sounds absolutely amazing. Very classy.
The remainder of the trim has been painted. Mud flaps also trim black'd. Did the white letters on the rears.
Sprayed some flat black inside the muffler tips to mask some rust.
Added this horn nut cover from a 3rd Gen. Civic Sedan. Power Steering boy! (whatcha know about that?!) HA
Your little brother is one lucky kid. I hope he appreciates all the hard work you're putting into this.
He certainly does. I know it. He is rather nervous about taking this thing home with him. I have assured him it'd be fine. He is actually a fantastic driver and underestimates himself sometimes. He's no fool. Instead a good kid that deserves this, and even if he crashes it 30 ft. out of the driveway.. It's been worth it to get the chance to teach him soo much.. I'm very proud. It has brought us closer I think.
I definitely appreciate everything Chaife does, I try to make a point to make sure he is well aware of that as well, I have learned a ridiculous amount over the course of this build.
Spent the morning cutting and laying the carpet kit... Any of you who have done one of these likely feel my struggle. It's finished though, took my sweet time and got it in without making too many mistakes. Here are some shots of the new interior. :encouragement:
Looks great, any tips for someone who wants to try to install a carpet kit?
Yeah, a bunch.....
1.) Don't Rush
2.) Take your time
3.) Lay it in the sun for a day or 2 prior to handling (this will make everything more pliable and work out the wrinkles without any effort)
4.) Measure twice, Cut once
5.) Don't order the "ultra plush cut pile" (the more plush the material the thicker it is, the harder it is to work with.) Instead order the thinnest one regular 'plush cut pile'
6.) I think it's best to get the seat mounting areas lined up first...
7.) Remove EVERYTHING that you possibly can (e-brake handle, shifter, lower console pieces, seat belts (lower bolt, 88-89)
8.) Slow down! (Getting the idea? lol)
9.) I pealed it back like a hundred or more times to make sure I was cutting in the correct place. Do the same.
10.)Keep your old carpet for reference....
Took me about.. 4 or 5 hours.
I did an EF hatch years back with ultra plush... I thought it would be nice.. but it sucks to install compared to the regular plush..
I was actually going to get the ultra plush, so maybe I will get some dynamat or lizard skin instead, thx.
What..? I don't understand.. Why would you do that? Is the cabin space particularly loud or something?
The regular plush cut pile is very close to factory thickness. Made a huge difference in quieting all road noise back down..
These kits come with all the sound deadening padding already in place..
Shout out to TheGreatBacon for snagging a few sedan goodies from the yard for us.
Now we can try to get this hood on and squared up. Can't wait. Should be finished up tonight after work.
Got a lot finished on the little white sedan. A few more tasks left at hand. Tag and Reg. next.
New distributor installed, New Hood and stuff too
Here is the new shape it is taking.
TailLight harnesses replaced, All light bulbs replaced
New main relay
New battery
Glove box and other interior covers in place.
Interior is finished except for the headliner
Auto belts sorted and working.
Wrinkled the valve cover again.
Lookin great brother! I'm wanting an EX pretty damn bad myself
Thanks man! Yeah I've been driving this car for the last week or so... It has really spoiled me driving an EX sedan lately. The big brakes really do it for me. Oh and that sunroof. Starting to realize just how lucky Frankz is about to be. I am giving him the car on Sunday this weekend.
Thanks man! The hub caps have grown on me big time.
I wish the tires had more life left on them. But it seems they only have a month or 2 left on them...
Which means we start shopping for wheels and tires right about....... Now. lol
We shall see what happens next.
First time venturing out of town last weekend for this little taxi and not a single hick-up..
I am soo pleased. She runs like one of my own. This weekend also marked Frankz' first mini road trip, first meet and first caravan. Was totally awesome to see Frankz and his sedan cruisin'. Cheers. :encouragement:
