Some suspension questions

Hey guys. I'm pretty new to wagons, and cars in general. I've been in love with cars and have a passion for them and I really want to learn everything I can about them. I'm only 17 and I bought an 88' wago as my first car and basically my project car. I was given a pair of eBay coils for free (I know. Trust me. I just wanted to see what my wago would look like with the real deal to a certain extent.) Anyway, I took the wago into my local shop and he said they won't work over the stock strut. The strut diameter is to small for the eBay coil. But I have seen sleeves popped over stock struts and there is alot of play between them but they still use them. Is it possible to have a bigger diameter sleeve on a smaller strut? Ok, new question. I can get a set of tein basics for an ef hatch. I think he has them on a 91 hatch. My second question is will it fit my 88 wago with out anything else? Such as new lower control arms or extended top hats, ect. Because to my knowledge (with all the knowledge I have lol) 88' wagons had a different rear suspension setup compared to all the other ef's (like I said, I'm new to this and I'm trying to learn about all of this). Any help would be great guys! Thanks!

too many questions and not able to understand what you want!?!?!

im gonna tell ya to search, learn more about the 88/89-91 suspension, and then re-submit some questions.

if you have an 88 and his is a 91, im gonna be nice and tell you that the Teinzz wont fit without 91 LCA's...

again, search - use the quicklinks too, they are rad...
  • Yes, you can take a large coolant hose and use it as filler between the shock body and the inside of the collar body.

Most of the collars come with a pair of orings to do the same thing. I like the hose better because it has a much larger contact surface with both components.

Read,"For '88 Wagon" under" Lowering" @ this link (under the above quiicklinks):

for your '91 hatch shx question.

The coilovers will give you a very hard ride.:disturbed:
  • Adding coilover sleeves and springs will only give you a hard ride if your shocks are not up to the task.

...or if you slam the 'ish out of it and the chassis is riding on the bump stops.
