I did mine when it was a little cold and let it sit over night

Put a light in there on it or anything! Lol One of the best things to do to a wagon, haha. Thanks for the insight on that photo!

  • No hate good Sir, but that garden barrier is terrible! Find yourself a VW Jetta lip or a Volvo one! They're super cheap in a yard.

What's the fun in having what everyone else has? ;)

For around to modding the speaker pod ad wrapping the headliner tonight

As you can see it was way too long so I had to cut the middle down, an removing the centre light which I came to not like
    495.jpg

    then trimmed it
    496.jpg

then 2 part apoxy on the outside before I did the underside
    497.jpg

then while that was drying I cleaned off the underside edges of the headliner
    498.jpg

then cleaned the top , I just used an all purpose cleaner and micro fibre cloths
    499.jpg

test fitting the speaker pod, the contours fix perfectly and it will just hook into the interior plastics so no mounting will need to be done
    500.jpg

then I used a plate of thin steel and apoxied that in too
    501.jpg

then wrapped the headliner using 3m upholstery glue
    502.jpg
    503.jpg

and while all this was happening I did the other two roof supports

Just finished installing the head liner, here is the map light wired up to the stock interior light
    523.jpg

Then ran the speaker wire in the headliner
    524.jpg

    And partly finished product

Did you want front speaker sounds fed to that roof pod? Unless someone's been at your wiring harness in the car you should have rear speaker leads just waiting for you inside the trim near where the factory speaker pods mount.
  • RoRoRoRo Wagonist
I never thought the wires would be there but I'll probably get the rear speakers too eeventually my CD player harness has wires for rear speakers but are not hooked up so I will have front and rears

  • That's looking good. Crazy how well the Jeep pod fits the headliner. This is what owning a Civic Wagon is about, making random stuff work! And I feel you on not having the same lip as everyone else, but the way that lip sticks out at the sides looks awful man. Try something different thats oem, maybe you'll find something nobody even knows about that fits and looks good!
  • RoRoRoRo Wagonist
I just put the jeep pod in and wired it up to my front speakers too, it really makes no difference if its to the front or back, its loud as hell because they have built in tweeters too and it sits perfectly into the interior plastics

I feel civic wagons you can pull off stuff like this, just any random crazy mod and it works so well, its a wagon thing

i know what you mean about flaring out at the sides, i did the same lip on my integra and it never did this, i could use a heat gun and bend it down but i'll wait to see how it looks like wide wheels

Cool headliner and speaker pods! Awesome job, definitely unique. Are you going to find some covers for the speakers?
  • 1 point 61 point 6 New Wagonist
DAMN, i want the speaker pod! love the headliner material! looks like that speaker pod came out of 96-98 jeep cherokee's from what i could find online.
  • RoRoRoRo Wagonist
It fits so mint I can't believe it, it sits where the "o shit handles" go and it's right I front of the passengers face lolYeh it came out of that year jeep and yes I so have covers they just don't fit with these speakers

loving that marvel headliner material, speaker mod is pretty cool to. i only have 2 rear speakers that are blocked by my back seat and i think my car is pretty loud i can only imagine how loud your wagon is.

Curious why you spray painted the valve cover while it was still on the engine??? Takes about 1 minute to remove it..

Interesting build nonetheless, bet those rear speakers sound good.
  • RoRoRoRo Wagonist
Because i was waiting for something at the time and couldn't be bothered taking it off, it was just a spur of the moment thing and is just temporary, the rear speakers do sound amazing!
  • Impressive mods, man. Your headlinder is amazing. Good choice.
  • RoRoRoRo Wagonist
    thanks man!
Next thing is the gsr swap! But I'll paint the bay first
  • RoRoRoRo Wagonist
was going to get up and fix a few problems today but I feel like crap today so Im not going to get anything done

i was going to fix the grounds on my front fogs because they keep going off
i was going to rotate my winter tires
i was going to put my new shifter bushing kit in

RoRo, Loving the custom visors, headliner and speakers! Im all about being one of a kind and thinking outside the box! Nice job :encouragement:
  • RoRoRoRo Wagonist
    thanks a lot man!

Im never one to take credit away from anyone else, my friend hutch was the one who found the 2 materials out of what seemed to be a million choices in this fabric warehouse , I was just going to do an oem colored suede and he convinced me otherwise lol

    im glad he did

I give you props on everything about the headliner. Good info on the roof support sealant! You gave me motivation to do the same sometime soon.
  • RoRoRoRo Wagonist
    Awesome man! And thanks
Always brings a smile to my face when I know I'm helping someone out
The seam sealer I used was not the best to use, it took way to long to dry and after reading the directions I bet it will fail to hold by summer time
  • RoRoRoRo Wagonist
got around to changing my shifter bushings today and holy crap what a difference it makes! shifting is so smooth and not a pain having the shifter hit the steering wheel going into first or hitting the passenger knee going into fifth!

also managed to fix my front fog light problem, they kept flickering on and off, which i knew it was bad grounds because my friend decided to rivet the ground to the body, YA GOOD MOVE BUD!
so i drilled them out and put self tapper in and they light up to full light so much faster and seem brighter!

then my rear hanging fog got water in it AGAIN for the 3rd time and blew the bulb so i re routed the wire which i think was causing water to get in and replaced the bulb and re sealed the light
  • Loving the car mate.

Just out of curiosity, where did you get material for the headliner?

I am also looking for some unique material for my car, but cant seem to find anything here in NZ.
