EF8/EF9 hood on wagon

hey guys! I have been looking to do this but I couldnt find much info about it (most topics ended with someone saying: yeah its possible with some minor mods as some random magazine did it, without actually posting a link of said magazine)
Since I have some vt front ends here i thought I would give it a go. However after removing the wagon bonnet and trying to get the sir hood on it looks like this will not work without a few mods. The VT hood is about 2.5 inch longer on the side where it meets the fenders and it does not fit at all. The vt headlights and filler bar fit fine though. So if anyone can point me into the right direction on how to do those 'minor adjustments' then that would be great :encouragement::encouragement:

  • As per all the info you will have found EF9 is way off EF8 is closer to fitting.

"minor mods" are only minor if you know what you are doing with panel work

You are unlikely to find anyone who has done it or has detailed info because nobody on here currently has done it.

i almost did this. its exactly just that much *more* work than i felt i wanted to invest. essentially it involves reforming the back parts of the hood where it meets the cowl (sides and the underside) and making the hinges to fit. i still have my SiR hood and want to do it, but it seems like so much work for something like that. also, EMD VTi headlights are $300+ and EF7 glass headlights that fit wagons are $100.....

if ya do it, id like to see as well...
  • EF7=PFL which means it only has the buldge for DOHC ZC rather than the whole bonnet buldge.

So you would want EF8 parts, or facelift CRX (later model ones all had the "EF8" front on them)

yeah, i know that. im saying that it's expensive to have the VTi front. the headlights aren't cheap like the SiR ones. They are glass, like the EF7's but longer. EF7's are cheap, glass and without nipples. and they are an OEM match for the wagon....

    EF7, EF8, EE8, EE9.... fun stuff.

still wanna see someone actually do this. Maybe make me get a pair of VTi headlights and do it myself. finally
  • I personally think the easiest way to do it would be to just weld the "bump" from a facelift Civic/CRX onto a wagon bonnet. Yea you wouldnt get the slightly longer headlights but the most noticeable bit is the bonnet yea?

Would still take some skills though

Well, "Gizmo" has already done the ZC bump...he had pics up, but they no longer are hosted. anyways, here's the page with the pic on his car. Looks good!

If anything, id be after the longer headlights. Ive already made a wagon hood "fit" with the SiR. as seen here. Just cut and shaped it, but the headlights stick out about 1/4" past the hood. cant really tell, but its enough for it to be annoying...

  • EF8 and EF9 have the same hood, I know because I have an EF9 on the driveway and I installed my EF8 bonnet on it with no problems. That same bonnet does not fit my wagon :)
  • I'll just cut the back and see what happens, I still have a few of those bonnets and I just need it for clearance for my K20 :D Thanks for the info guys :D
