Love the JPS Team Lotus towel hanging there too lol.
If everything goes smooth and we pick up a new flywheel we will try and crank her up within the next few weeks. But who knows, the car hasn't ran in almost two years.

LOL thanks Vladi, actually my father used to volunteer with Mario Andretti's efforts while he was teamed up with Elio De Angelis & JPS when they'd come stateside in the early 80's.
He helped out at the Caesar's Palace Grand Prix (Las Vegas) and Long Beach Grand Prix each year. That is his crew shirt folded up.
Side note; My mother used to work fire on pit lane in Long Beach, CA. She was good friends with Nigel Mansell at the time.
Sorry for the brief thread jack TheGreatBacon, just some vintage F1 nuts conversing.
That site is hondapartsnow.com I usually shop with hondapartscheap.com because their inventory is usually a bit more updated. But I saved a few bucks on shipping from the other site.
Painted the new VC I picked up a few weeks back, need to pick up some sand paper and finish it.
Put the fuzzy wheel in my sedan for fun, doesn't have a horn yet but I think its a interesting look.
Also picked up this honda cassette cleaning kit on ebay
Pretty stoked that honda still had these headlight brackets. (Third gen recessed headlights mount to these, these mount to the radiator support.)
And they still had the drivers side arm rest in stock, so i figured why not.
Hopefully the new flywheel comes this week and we can plop the motor back in this turd.
I have exactly the same 3rd gen turd like yours and i'm taking it apart too. I would appreciate it very much for your advises, pictures, manual, etc... FYI, i'm in Vietnam which is very hard to find these stuffs.
Long story short. My 4WD was badly destroyed by the previous owner when i bought the wagon. I missed the linkage from the level of the "SL" to the level to engage 4WD at the transfer case in your picture bellow
Here the level at the transfer case, there is no think connect to it
Got the OEM 4WD flywheel in today, as you can tell it is completely different from the one i purchased from autozone back in 2012. Found out I can't get a refund either because they don't have the receipt on file; it's partially my fault for thinking that autozone would actually give me the correct part.:hopelessness:
Also my wheels for my sedan came today, brand new Enkei Aeronautics:cool:
I will probably put them on the wagon as well
Doing great work as allways!
What kind of paint is that on the VC?
Seen those Aeronatics for the first time about a week ago, some guy was searching for them on Facebook, having them BNIB is awesome!

Thats some awesome history right there man, no wonder you're into cars that much then!
Those Items are awesome to own even if they were worn by a stranger, being worn by a relative makes them priceless. I'd frame it lol.
Flywheel has been installed
Trans and motor back together
Everything back in
Still have a few things to do before we can try and crank her up but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
Haven't been back to wrench on the wagon in a few weeks. Working two jobs leaves very few full days off to take the drive out to the old Honda ranch, sucks but it keeps me busy; and founding my cars. Been staying busy with my sedan on my spare time, did manage to finish up this VC though.
Motor needs to be rebuilt, kit has been ordered. Managed to grab a few things off of a wagon at pull a part.
Rear trim piece that isn't rusted through, interior trunk plastic and full drivers side molding. Still not in perfect shape but a lot better than my current set.
Vinyl interior 1985 FWD, first time seeing one of these bad boys. So many interior options for these old wagons and to think the EF chassis in the US only has 3 color options for interior. Makes me wonder how many others are out there.
Thanks guys, the valve cover is polished. I think it fits the car better than the machines finish. Updates are slow, working two jobs leaves very few days off to make my way out to see this old girl.
Tried to snap pictures when I could, everything was disassembled fairly quick so I didn't get nearly as many pictures as I could have; guess thats a good thing though..
Damnn why so dirty? I thought this was gone through when chaife painted the outside of the interior.
I have no idea why it was so dirty in this motor but it was some nasty sludge. The motor was never rebuilt by us; are you talking about when Chaife painted the block? I painted all of the plastic bits on the interior a while back.
I cleaned the block and head really good, and broke the head down minus removing the valves..
We have decided that the head & block need to pay a visit to my machinist.. :miserable:
At least this thing will be a 100% full restoration after this hopeful final step..
(pics to include the head stands that Charb had asked about seeing again, here they are.)
I love these things, sure makes the job a bit more fun..
Scrubbed everything with a wire brush, it was a serious mess.... This was made easy for me as TheGreatBacon had pretty much washed all the accessory pieces & Internals already. Time to send everything off. Hope to do that before the end of the week.
Sneak Peak. :hopelessness: We have a short block constructed. The head is ready to go on. New seals and all.
Current hunting down an elusive set of new head bolts.
New over-sized pistons.
Block- bored, honed, decked, shaved
Crank ground and polished, which allowed us to get the bearings fit absolutely perfectly. Achieving flawless clearances.
TheGreatBacon and I have been busy lately creating something amazing... Look.
Head Bolts came in..
New Weber 32/36 Carb installed
New Pegasus Racing Synchronous Throttle Linkage
New clutch
New flywheel
All New seals and gaskets
Repainted everything, again.
