The Third Gen Turd

Well i bought this wagon a few months ago; a very spur of the moment purchase but it was well worth it. 132k on the engine, push start 4WD, dirty ass engine. So this car is my first ACTUAL build, I have a 91 SI hatchback that I have done a few things to but I am learning a lot as I go with this little turd I have here. So please any advice or constructive criticism post it up. If you have something not constructive and just negative, send me a message please.. :D Hope everyone enjoys the start of this build, still have a long way to go. Thanks for looking!

Was looking for a plaid fabric for my headliner but ended up deciding on this suede material.

These crazy pieces, had no clue how to pop them out. Plan on putting them back on after paint

Saw this sedan today at work, left a note on their window with my number if they ever want to sell it...haha

Sorry for the bad quality on some of the photos, a few are from my shitty camera phone. I am in the process of shaving the engine bay right now, sanding and getting everything prepped for paint. I have a bunch of interior goodies ready for the wagon that I will soon take pictures of for you guys, like I said advice is always welcome; thanks!

  • I want your wagon so bad. I need a 4wd wagon for the snow.

Great looking Wagon...what are your plans for this beast
  • thanks guys, maybe a weber carb eventually; but as of now just giving everything a good clean up. Find a good way to lower the rear; basically restore the whole interior. Have a good bit of stuff already, as well as an oem roof rack. Still looking to get my drivers side floor pan patched up though... Has a hole from rust.

  • Very nice goodies I'd love to have the cargo cover and the mats.
  • Thanks! Still working on dying them to match my interior, went to my buddys shop today and came to an agreement on paint. Bringing it there the week after next, getting all of the rust damage repaired as well.

Siiick, can't wait to see this thing in person. Cool combination of parts you have been collecting!
It will be dope if we ride 3rd Gen to meets together.
  • Nice find. I see that you are in Charlotte! I am over the Eastland Mall area.

i really like where this is headed! i hope you can replicate those 4WD graphics once the car gets repainted. it would be a shame to loose that!
  • thanks man, I have all of the measurements and a few pictures. I have a friend who is going to help me recreate it so I can get a vinyl print, hopefully it will work out!
  • Getting a quote on rust repaid and paint next week, happy turkey day to everyone! I have been searching for a set of 4x100 smoothies, preferably 15x8 or 15x9. If anyone catches word of someone selling some or where to get a custom set get at me please.
  • Still digging the wagon, I want to see more.
  • More updates very soon; ordered carpet and a few other goodies. Next is painting the transmission and valve cover.. :D
  • Bummed there wasn't a second page! Love where this is going and I've never seen anyone do anything in the bay to one of these older wagons. Will be following for sure!

Painted a few things, finished painting all of the interior burgundy as well. Finished painting the mud flap logos and clear coated them, its not perfect but it doesn't look bad. Got my sedan lower console in, had to take some off of the sides for it to work though, just wish the center bar to separate the cassette tapes wasn't broken out.. :[ Everything else has been kind of slow but I finally got new seats for the SI, just waiting on a better condition set of front floor mats to come in the mail; quick little peek of the interior. :P Just waiting until after the holidays to get the paint going; so ready for it. Want to free up some garage space... Have a few things coming in the mail from a RPR member; clear corners, rain guards and side markers; stoked for those. I originally wanted to paint my wheels and center caps to look like EF RT wheels but now im having second thoughts... Maybe leaning more towards rusto sand color and paint the H burgundy, I have always enjoyed using those colors together; I think it would go well with the interior.. Anyways, not much of an update but a few things to look forward too; enjoy!

I really like the burgundy. People try to paint there interior sometimes and just fail. You did a pretty awesome job congrats!
  • Thanks, it was already a maroon/burgundy color; just faded and worn out. The driver seat is destroyed though looking in to getting the seats reupholstered, who knows though.
  • Finally came :D

damn! where are you finding all this cool stuff? I cant find crap
  • Its not easy! haha, lurking ebay constantly; I got a few things from an RPR member. Other stuff I got from a friend who gets me my EF parts. Cheers!
  • So not a turd! Why are you wanting to lower the rear? So the car will sit level? If so doesn't the 4wd wagon have a real rearend and torsion bar front suspension. If it does you yould always adjust the front end torsion bars to a higher level unless they are maxed at the top if so you can reclock the torsion bars a notch from what I've read. I don't know much about the torsion bar setup but about to learn I'm picking up an 86 crx this weekend.
  • Yeah man, I don't want to slam it; just lower the ride height a few inches. Yes I can adjust the torsion bar up front, Im not sure if it is at its highest setting though. As for the rear, their is no aftermarket suspension options for 3rd gen 4wd civics as far as I know. Eventually I might look into something custom, good luck getting the CRX, 1st gen ones are bad ass!
