I got some EDM power mirrors a while back... decided to give installing them a whirl today...

I found these instructions some where on the internet- and plan to wire accordingly... As for the most part they seem very accurate... Obviously they are CRX instructions

    1. Take off door panels and remove CRX mirrors.
    2. test fit Civic mirror to door...note where you have to modify mounting holes.
    3. mount mirror to door...stick wire plug through hole in center ( 3 wires)
    4. route wire harness from plug through plastic tubing into body of vehicle ( if you want to add wire for other upgrades...speakers,doorlocks,etc..now is the time to do it..always plan for upgrades.)
    5. on the switch 4 wires will match up to the oem mirrors...the third wire on the mirrors has a white trace...this wire goes to a yellow/white wire on switch.
    6. Black/yellow - 12volt...above your fuse panel is a row of plugs...one is ignition another is battery...your choice to use either. This must be a Fused connection.
    7. Black/grey spots - chassis ground .....find a good ground point.
    8. Add fuse...plug harness into switch and test

Mirrors were white, so I painted them with some trim paint...

I couldnt really wire them through the loom that already runs to the door- you will know what Im talking about when you go to do it... So I kind of made my own wiring loom with electrical tape. There was this little plug above the hinge on the door... Took glove box out and ran wiring through there...
    365.jpg
Thats pretty much where I had to stop because I ran out of time

correct from a wagon from New Zealand I think? i cant remember where exactly they came from...

    Finished up wiring today...

Everything went pretty smoothly, I was having trouble grasping the concept "just tap into the fuse box"... So I did some googling and found one of these... Went to O'reilys and picked one up- very handy...
    385.jpg

    386.jpg

I placed it on the power locks/windows or something that my wagon clearly doesn't have... I also filled both fuse positions on the fuse-tapper (I don't think it is necessary)...

I like for some odd reason to fill all the blank plates below the steering wheel- they drive me insane... although the time & energy spent on these would have been nice to have power locks & windows as well... may be some day...

Bill, looks like ur settling into your new digs nicely. What mods did you have to do to your Accord armrest? What model did you pull it from and where did you get the wagon matching skin? I'm with you on power options. Considering the 4 doors, Someday I will have power locks!

Love the mirror swap. One step fresher! Your car continues onward as always. That is why I love your builds - because they never end til' you let them go.

I believe it was a 90-93 armrest... the gray color is spot on to match wagon gray interior... as far as mods, the arm rest doesnt really fit over the back of the center console (like a integra armrest would) so it sits a little forward... and since there was nothing really to drill into (the metal bracket that make up the armrest didnt reach far enough down to drill into wagon chassis anywhere) so I just got metal things that were sitting in my tool box, bent them slightly in a "L" ish shape and used sheet metal screws to attach... if any of that makes any sense- it will if you go to do the mod yourself anyways... I hid the metal brackets I made under the carpet- so you cant even see them.

thanks man, no plans to get rid of this one any time soon- I think i've learned my lesson

Right on, i follow ya. Thx. Ill eventually look for a teg one, if they made any DAs with thethe samemost brown interior. As for now, i got more important things to figure out....think it may be a bad relay, but not sure at this point. Anyway, keep it up!

Yeah I've seen a lighter tan color from a teg that wouldn't look bad, especially if you wrapped the lid in some of the same seat material...

thanks man- I really hate wiring things, but I am slowly learning a lot...

Thanks man, Its an very rare Honda F1 wooden wheel manufactured by Momo. Not in mint condition- but great condition for its age...

Good news guys! I accepted a job offer today! Bad news is- I wont have an exorbitant amount of time to mess with the wagon like I've had this week...

Today I cleaned up the wiper arms...

before: i never realized how haggard they were...
    548.jpg

    549.jpg

    After
    550.jpg

    551.jpg

I did the rear while I was at it... Easier to tape around than to remove the rear wiper...
    552.jpg

    553.jpg

    554.jpg

I used this stuff.. It leaves a great finish
    555.jpg

also sprayed this rear fog light bracket I've been working on cleaning up if you remember from a few pages back... Maybe I will be lucking enough to find some time to install it soon... I need another rear defrost switch though, so I can wire it up...

thanks... they are almost completely useless once they are set where I want them, lols, i doubt I will ever adjust them again.... although everytime someone new gets in my car- Im like "check this out"- then I move the mirrors and they are really unimpressed...

I used the same paint for mine, it rubbed off after a couple of times it rained. Don't know if it was because it didn't dry properly but good luck

I've used it many many times and have never had an issue with it... Did you sand before spraying?
I used SEM trim black, It has stayed on through out all of my cars

I've never used that, but this gives the same finish... I've never had an issue with any spray paint really so I'm not sure what VLxTurtle's issue was...

Today I installed rear fog light. It took me pretty much all day.

    remove everything

There are outlines on where you should cut. Kinda hard to see, but they are there.
    610.jpg

    cut out Styrofoam
    611.jpg

    612.jpg

Also you have to cut a chunk out of your bumper support. sorry I did not take pix but its kind of a pain in the ass... unless you have a grinder- then you would be better off than I was...

    Finished hole
    613.jpg

    test fit.
    614.jpg

clean up where rear mud guards were.
    615.jpg

    616.jpg

    wax it up
    617.jpg

here is where I ran the wires from the fog light up through the tail light. (the red & black wire)
    618.jpg

    619.jpg

installed but not wired and i need to make a little rubber gasket for the foglight lens. Mine doesn't have one...

    camera batter died.

yea i sanded and cleaned it, im not sure if it was because it was cold outside and it rained 2 days later. Once it stopped raining i washed my car and some of it started to peel.

Bill, loving all the little touches! Glad to see you are breaking in the new garage too. Looks like it was made for the wagon considering the clearance left between the garage door and hatch when both are up. My fav update has to be the smiley in ur sig tho! :cool-new:

I dunno man, I know you're only supposed to spray at a certain temperature, like 60-70 or something like that- maybe that was the reason? i dunno?

Thanks, my neighbors literally think I'm insane. As you can see we share a 4 car garage- which is awesome because when they are not home- I can spread out and have space. But I was working on this all day, and they were in and out of their garages and were like what in the hell are you doing...

One of my neighbors said he used to drive a 85 civic wagon with push button 4wd. I was like "you should have kept it, shame on you!"

as for the sig- now that I have internets at home, I have time to mess around...:cool-new:

my neighbor use to drive a 85 civic wagon- he is a hippy... I think he drives a subaru outback... 2 dogs... If you could stereotype Denver- he is it... That is the closest wagon friend I have.

    thanks dude- appreciate it...

So it may be 2-3 weeks before my new job starts- in the mean time, I have time on my hands- which is nice, because all these parts I have in a box and have never had time to deal with---- i finally have time to deal with...

So today I wired. I HATE wiring. Electrical anything is terrible. with that said I have learned A LOT... Which is nice for future life I suppose...

I wired a relay to each foglight- because I burnt up a switch wiring directly to the battery; from my understandings a relay is supposed to somewhat prevent that.

I have a relay running to the front foglights and a relay running to the rear foglights... Its a headache to deal with all the wires- I finally had to start labeling everything...
    641.jpg

tapped into my "sunroof" fuse spot on the fusebox panel
    642.jpg

ta-da... front and rear fog lights on separate controls!
    643.jpg

    644.jpg

o previously I told you my rear fog light didn't have a rubber surround- today at the salvage yard- I got one from an older civic front blinker- I still had to cut and modify to fit, but it works pretty well...
    645.jpg

and they work & the buttons themselves light up... This is a pretty big accomplishment for some one like myself who despises wiring anything...
    646.jpg

    647.jpg

Any questions? dont ask. lols but seriously I would be glad to help- it really was a little bit of a head ache... But google is surprisingly helpful- when I run into problems, I just google it... or text tory or spastik...
