Coolant hose sealant?!

One of the hoses cracked and I replaced it. The new replaced hose keeps letting out pressure though. I even got new clamps for it and it still leaks out coolant really slow. Don't really want to use sealant but idgf right now. Any reccomended sealant products that will work ? Thank you

  • No sealant needed.

Perhaps if you are more descriptive with the situation (pics help too) we can help better. Are your hose(s) bulging? Have you replaced your radiator cap anytime recently (if so, what pressure)? Do you have a leak anywhere else? What hose did you replace? How old is your thermostat?
  • ^^ great questions and I'll add a few more. Was the hose dealer or aftermarket? Sometimes aftermarket are too big. Are you trying to use a 3" clamp on a 2" inch hose? Next, where the hose attaches is there a build up of corrosion that is preventing a good seal? As stated above, pics would be great.

sealant will ruin your engine. im with these guys, sort out the issue and fix. ill bet its the cap tho...or the thermo. replace the thermo with OEM if you havent already...
  • Haven't replaced rad cap. Its still fine and it holds 13 lbs. After market hose (5/16). Using 3/4 inch hose clamp. And yes there is alot of corrsion, which is making the bad seal. There is a chip on the little thing you put the hose on. Used some jbweld and sealed it but still overheated. Cut the hose off and the removed the jbweld. jbweld was seeped and setted in through the corroded chips and blocked the way for coolant to pass through fully.
