oil pan removal need advice

Band Wagon
RE: 91 wagon. I got an aftermarket oil pan 18 mos ago from Napa and the hole for the drain plug was sloppily forged and doesn't mate flat with the plug, thus I've had a leak ever since:mad:. My honda specialist shop installed it for me. They recommend putting in an OEM Honda oil pan.
Is an oil pan removal something I can do? I have a 3 ton jack, jack stands, torque wrench and good tools. Also have the 1991 Honda service manual for dealerships. In the oil pan removal section it lists removing the transfer case and a heap of other stuff like the exhaust pipe before the oil pan, (with draining of the transmission fluid, replacement of various o-rings, several other gaskets, etc involved.)
I've found some online vendors that have OEM Honda 91 oil pans and the necessary gasket.
Anyone have advice who has swapped an oil pan? I am a bit confused too on what type of liquid gasket to get (as mentioned in the shop manual) and where, exactly it goes. The diagram indicates 4 spots only, not an entire bead of it all the way around the pan perimeter.
I don't want to get the bolts and stuff off and find out I can't progress to completion then be faced with having to get my car towed to the honda specialist, if I should have just taken it there in the first place.
Am frustrated at my false economy buying the aftermarket pan 1.5 yrs ago. The reason I had to get one was because an oil change place messed up the threads on the original oil pan and put in a 1 time rubber expansion plug as the oil plug. The place was out of business by the time my 3000 miles were up and I found my plug situation screwed up. drat drat drat.
BTW, just had my A/C converted to R134a this week. $ 198 labor, $ 85 parts Raleigh, NC
