I'm not sure that there's been such a write-up. You do know that the RT pump is accessible from under the seat, right?
  • I'm parting the car out, I need the entire gas tank dropped.

    Ah, I see.

I'm not entirely certain whether the rear differential housing has to be dropped to remove the tank, but since you're parting her out...

Raise the vehicle and support it securely with jackstands. Higher is better for this job.
    Disconnect the battery ground cable.
    Remove the rear wheels
remove the rear drive axles- much the same as front axles.
    Remove the rear driveshaft
Remove the rear diff. 2 bolts up thru the front mount and 1 thru the rear.

    Drain the tank.

Lift the rear seat and remove the two access covers.
Disconnect all the wires and hoses you find there.

    Back underneath:
Remove the plastic cover along the left side of the tank-(just inside and forward of the left rear wheel)
Disconnect all of the hoses you find there.
    -filler hose
    -filler vent
    -pressure hose
    -return hose
-vent hose ...i think that's it, going from memory

Now loosen the nuts at the rear of the two tank retaining straps until the bolts can be lifted from their keyhole slots in the body.
    That's about it, you're done!

    Really? Dang lol

I've got my 2wd tank out. Just haven't had time to clean her up yet, and install the new pump. I've got some pictures, but I'm going to get more. I'll post them up when I get back under her again this week.
  • Thanks bam
  • Since this is for a RT, wouldn't you have to remove the rear axles and drop the driveshaft down enough to pull tank out OR can you pull the tank out without doing that?

Edit: My bad got a little ahead of myself and didn't read bams post entirely.
  • Whatever you do please have plenty of ventilation for the gas vapors. There was a recent scare on here.
