Yes it will fit. Search around, there should be a thread on everything you need to swap a d16z6. Should be pretty much the same thing.

how did you get the rear half shaft to bolt up?
  • phiticuphiticu Band Wagon
it just did, the boys at the service didn't do any major mods for the engine to fit, besides an adaptor for the steering box... and the oil pan.

wow im surprised, i was under the impresion that y series engines did not work for the Rt wagons. What is the specs on that Y8? Year, and country of origin if you could. thanks

thats why, lol I thought that you were stateside
  • most y8 blocks have the provisions for the intermediate shaft, just not all are tapped to accept bolts. there are a coupkle good write-ups on here about that. as far as the oil pick up and pan go, if you switch to the y7 steel pan and use the rt oil pick up there should be littl eto no issues.
  • I know the Y7 in my LeMons car does not have the provisions for the jack-shaft. Also, I was looking at a Y8 engine before I bought the Z6 that is in my RT now.

I'm pretty sure the Y7 and Y8 share the same block.

That basically leaves you with A6, Z6, and ZC blocks as possible donors.
  • y8 amd y7 are basically the same bottom end. If I were you i'd use a y7 oil pick up line. Because y8's are very known to have spun rods cause of lack of oil.
  • I believe that is because the y8 crank has oil holes on one side where z6 has two opposite of each other.

may I ask why you want to go obd2 instead of obd1 where you can fine more tuner friendly ecu programs????

lately I learned that I would better go with and obd0 to obd1 and a p28 :D still in progress , for one month now watchin it as there is no sparks to the plugs... :(

Just because it is an OBDII engine doesn't mean it can't be driven by an OBD0 or OBDI ECU. There are probably going to be some parts (injectors, distributor, etc) that need to be changed out or omitted or modified, but the engine itself doesn't care what kind of computer it is hooked up to.
