idea for new wagon drivetrain

I really like my little wagon. The suspension is shot,:nightmare: engine is getting worse and worse by the day,:hopelessness: and the tranny or something related has a whine.:|
The wagon was paid in full with cash the day I got it. intereior is all there and really nice needs a windsheild and has minor dents all over it.
I use it to pull boats to the river, go get supplies and haul motorcycle home and to swap meets and as a daily driver.

Knowing all this, I have found a lifted 4wd toyota solid axle pickup that runs but has no title and have been thinking about putting my little wagon up on the toyota 4wd chassis. I'm really on the fence about it though. It will be a lot of work which I can do 100% of it myself.
Just wondering what you guys think about it. $500 for donor toyota + lots of time shortening the toyota frame and getting it ready to attach the civic or just keep trying to find an engine to build for the wagon $300- $1000 replace all the suspension bushings $$? and hope the tranny isn't going out. Money wise the toyota frame gives me a 1/4 ton trucks hauling capacity and runs and 4wd works fine. I know it wont be a civic anymore but it will look like a jacked up mean civic wagon. :devilish:

It really doesn't matter what most people think but I'd like to know anyway.

Do it! I've considered it. I have a 2000 4runner that would make a good donor, but I was already too far down the road with the original style running gear when I found the toyo.
  • yea I figured you'd be with me on it Bam. Your wagon is killer and it is all honda. I watched your build from day one and checked it everyday. That is alot of work. I know its the lazy way but having solid axles front and rear would be great. the toyota already has a 3" lift with 33" tires. It would make one monster wagon. I found the toyota on craigslist last last night and havent found it again on craigslist ( I can't remember the exact listing details and city but it was close by). I know where another is but it has a bad engine if this other one is already gone. I think I'm going to go for it one day when all the right pieces fall into place. Done right I think it would look real good. 4wd toyota reliability with the styling and people capacity of the wagon.
