my first ever RT-4WD! 1998 CR-V inside

picked this up about a week ago. story behind it is a big complex, but the short version is that while hunting around for a car for my sister, i discovered this thing. my sister ended up getting a 1999 CR-V LX and after driving it once around the block i instantly fell in love with the feel of it, and how extremely similar it is to the Civic Wagon.
so i decided to get one, and sell my 2000 Civic Sedan.
so now i am the happy owner of a 1998 CR-V EX, RT-4WD. its automatic, but oh well. runs very well, clean, and is a lot of fun! plans are to lift it, get some meaty tires on it, and a bull bar. but who knows what else =D i would love to make this thing EDM (ragenasian, you reading this? ha ha, jk jk :P ) but for now it is simply the perfect daily driver.
so far, i have replaced the old clanging muffler with a WRX one, fits nicely and looks pretty good. next up is rear brake shoes, sway bar end links and basic maintenance. let the fun begin!

started with my typical "christening" item
and for a short time at least, all three of my cars together...
funny you mention the intake, i was going to put one on that i have had for a while, but need a filter for it.
If you want nice intake sound just remove the resonator from under the airbox, need to remove the inner guard to get at it.
I already have started adding Honda Access parts to mine amougnst other things, need to update my thread once it stops raining and I can get some pics
it is pretty slow tho. my sister's '99 has a bit more pep to it, but hers has a B20Z which has 20 more hp then my B20b.
but it does the job just fine
They arnt too slow, Im just used to my ITR and old Shuttle. After driving the work van even the CR-V feels quick :cocksure: (i just used that face because it says "cocksure" and I couldnt find the one I wanted)
i heard that the main difference between the B20B and B20Z is the intake manifold design and exhaust manifold. so, maybe a midnight intake manifold swap is in order XD
naw, but in all seriousness, i am not too worried about making it quicker. its fine how it is.. but, i do love me some nice sound... =D
enjoy!
still need to work on cleaning the engine bay, and repainting the valve cover.
WRX muffler :P
It was lowered on Koni Yellows and Ground Controls. I even autoXed and took it to the local racetrack.
You know how to get a hold of me if there is something you need.
anyway, PM me a price man!
glad our Vs are the same color :P
I have come across some AMAZING examples such as 63K miled one in silver that looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor, manual trans, etc. but seller would not take less than $7,750.00 for it LOL.
...then I missed out on one last night that was a clean interior, straight body 1997 RT4WD for just $1,500.00!!! Had a coolant leak and needed a windshield.
I'm dead set on a 5-speed model. I've already passed up on two MINT 2001 SE models in my price range. I settled on an auto when I bought my Fit, but I won't again unless it is a steal deal under $2,000.00.
BTW Submarine Blue is nice man!
The biggest difference is that the B20B has lower CR/dished pistons while the B20Z has less dished pistons, yielding higher CR. I believe it's 8.8:1CR for B20B and 9.6:1CR for the B20Z. JDM engines simply say "B20B" and can be either variety. Importers usually distinguish between the two as "low" or "high" compression models, and a $100.00 or so price difference usually accompanies the "high" compression model.
I too hunted for a manual for a while, I bought a Auto cheap and sold it for $1200 more a week later which confirmed I wanted a manual one for sure.
We have NZDM ones (no alloys, no tinted windows, no front nudge bar etc etc) and there are a few manual ones of those around, but I wanted JDM so it comes with all the good bits and they are rare to find in manual
once i get home in a few months, i hope to have some big things in store for the V...
and, i had great luck! found one in just the right color too.. score! still looking for rear fogs though, called around 7 junkyards and not one had any..:numbness:
oh well, so far i managed to get the following EDM parts..
-tailgate garnish
-bumper licence plate holder
-speedometer
-adjustable headlight switch
-rear fog switch
-headlight washer switch
-red hazard switch
-tail lights
-side marker lights
-grille
still looking for rear fog and back-up light (located in bumper)
i have a set of new OEM headlight washers on the way as well
pix of couple different junkyards and a donor car.. if only i could have taken the sunroof!
peaking through the bush..
and the stash
definitely a great time!
got an OEM front licence plate bracket, so now i can mount the euro plate "legitimately" lol
ended up only being able to find brand new OEM parts for the rear fog, back-up light and headlight washers, but still worth it! got the rear fog and back-up light from England (so these are RHD style, oh well!), the headlight washers from a local Honda supplier here in Budapest.
also got the sunvisors, as mine as a little messed up anyway and these do not have big annoying SRS warning labels, just simple text, in four languages!
and, some EF parts
can't wait to install everything, i'm getting a bit excited
unfortunately i could not get the front grille back home as it didn't fit in my luggage :P so it will be shipped to me hopefully soon. other then that, the EDM conversion has been complete!
some process pics..
what i started with....
rear garnish and tail light differences between USDM/JDM and EDM
bumper make-over :P
headlight washers in, and front plate holder on
and finished rear end.
finished/finalized (for now) car:
and interior:
sun visors with no obnoxious warning labels
red hazard switch
220 km/h cluster
and rear fog switch, headlight washer switch and adjustable headlight switch. dimmer relocated.
Not sure i understand? It depends on the country. I have hungarian plates on my V, german ones on the wagon.
