  • Peripheral parts have been ordered, installation on the wagon slated for next weekend, and track day set for November 16/17.

    It's getting there!

  • Very awesome! I am sure there will be many happy to see a final product.

I would be one of the happy ones.

With this bracket is there a chance to run an E-brake cable?
  • AbideAbide Council Member
I feel like there was another good teaser pic recently.
  • Yes, the e-brake cable should work with my setup.
  • How is it going, I take it is cheaper for me to buy this and new discs and pads, than to buy new drums. They are quite expensive here, around 150 €uros :O
What do you think will be the price for the bracket only? I have some calipers laying around...
  • I've been driving on them for the last couple of days. Was in Vegas for SEMA last week, so I didn't get to put a lot of miles on them.

I still have some work to do on sourcing the peripheral parts directly, before I can put a number on the pricing tiers. I'm hoping to bring the costs down on all of the non-basic tiers, but I'm not dealing with a lot of volume, so we'll see. I am also creating an LLC under the CD1Racing name to help protect my person and life from any unforeseen circumstances. I have put a lot of effort, time, and money into developing these...but it is a braking component and that comes with too much liability to go at this haphazardly.

I have put these tiers together to help those interested to gauge what kind of effort and parts installation will require.

I will have a write up available sometime this week detailing the installation steps. Also, as I have found in sourcing parts for mock up and final installation, some brake parts sourced from different manufacturers had different specs/tolerances that required making some on-the-fly adjustments to the caliper bracket components (not the CD1 brackets) and the brake pads.

I'd appreciate any feedback the community has to offer.

In writing this response, I tossed the parking brake cable bracket (still in development) between the Basic and the Installation tiers. How many of you would be planning on installing these without the parking brake?
  • Parking brake would be a must for me...
  • I would need a parking brake and I would be interested in the upper tiers as well depending upon price. But for sure I will be ordering at least the basic kit!

Overall, thank you so much for investing all your time and effort for all of us :encouragement:

I'm in for brackets either way just to add to the count on the first run!

This is exciting! thanks again for doing this for the community!

I also would want to run a parking brake. Awesome work! Glad someone has followed the idea, done the R&D, and actually has a tangible product! Im in for a more detailed write-up and pics of installation.
  • I'd need a parking brake. This would be a HUGE help in running oversized wheels/tires.
  • Parking brake also :)

I would need the e-brake cable as well. There is no way to use the factory wagon cable? I just put 2 new ones in last year :(
  • Yeah, the end of the cables are different because of the way it attaches to the drum vs disc actuator.

I tried going the most economical route while having to modify the RTA minimally.
  • It's getting cold in OK, so it was time to put the winter tires on. They are on RT4WD wheels, so I can confirm that they fit over the RDC.

Would standard Hatchback cables be the correct ones?
  • quartersquarters Council Member
Hatch's didn't have rear disc. CRX cables will be to short probably. So i'm GUESSING they are going to be Integra cables.

Did the US market not get Rear Discs on the EF Hatches?

Ill dig up some part numbers tomorrow at work. Ill Compare a EF Hatch Cable (On Drums) to that of the Shuttle on Drums, Which should confirm lenght. As Euro Spec Hatches came with Discs (with the 1.6 engines)

Did the EK Coupes get discs state side?
  • EF Sedans also had rear discs (D16A7) in Europe, maybe you can check for those also Gizmo?
  • GizmoGizmo Wagonist
    Here's what I found

Hatches and 2wd shuttles listed at 1515mm cable length for both sides (on drums)

A hatch on discs lists as cable lengths as 1670mm and 1635mm.

4wd shuttles list as 1560mm and 1530mm on drums.

I think the hatch cables will be fine.

Part numbers - FKB1991 and FKB1990 (first line numbers)

On my hatch (but with wagon floor...) I use hatch cables without any problems,

I'm sure LowFlyn will tell us what to do here in north america
  • Well, track day when great. Got 4 good sessions in and everything looks solid.

I'm still needing to remove the PBC from my CRX to see if they are a viable options, but a redneck's visual inspection looks to be a close match. I'm planning on getting underneath both cars tonight.

    excellent.

Just noticed the caliper sitting at the 1 o-clock position instead of the OEM 3 o-clock position.

Will this effect handbrake operation? Any reason behind this?

Shouldn't affect ebrake operation since I will be making a bracket to hold the PBC at the proper angle. 1 o'clock position for the caliper was chosen because that was the best location to keep the caliper body out of the RTA as much as possible. There is only a minimal cut to the seam on the RTA required for caliper clearance. I have the whole installation process pictured just need to edit and put in a document.
  • Very good! I need one of those for my soon to be track Shuttle :P
