I just keep adamantly bothering Brake Expert to make a conversion.
I know he had interest in it, just insure of where he's at/if he's lost interest...

I have $$$ set aside to buy the conversion, just don't have the time, resources or extra components to complete a kit....

I do agree, 5 pages of a bunch of talk is always how these things go.

Someone figure this out once and for all!

What components would you use on a RT4wd? CRV or CRX maybe? I'd love to have a 5 lug front and rear to run Type R wheels...

i dont know about wagons with rear discs, but i have rear disc and the rt4wd on my sedan. that was actually very easy. took me about a day to put up the diff and about an hour and a half to do rear discs. i didnt notice the wagon trailing arms being longer than mine, i thought there were the same length. i just took the parts and swapped what i needed... ill look at them later and see if i can get good pics

so you put sedan rear discs brakes on your rt4wd?

just swaped complete trailing arm and it fit perfect?

    i dont understand your story.

    ...won't be that easy

foreal the first person to figure this out and make a kit will easily make a quick 5 figures lol
im really about to try my self while the car is under the knife SINCE NOONE ELSE HAS THE BALLS TO!

If you read, its a sedan, not a hatch.

Just to update everyone, I got some more stuff and will be taking another crack at making a prototype next week. To start off with bad news, you MAY need 15" wheels.
  • AlphaxomegaAlphaxomega Senior Wagonist
    Fuhhhh!!!
    Oh well for me XD

Pics or it didn't happen.. LOL

I have spare AWD Trailing arms.. and Spare rear disc DA trailing arms & CRX Si Tailing arms.. I might just have to try to swap what is needed.. LOL

When, of course I have the time and not 6-8 projects.. ;)
  • hey guys do you think this EF8/9 Rear Disc Conversion http://hmotorsonline.com/shop/whatsnew_detail.php?prodID=263 will be a completely bolt on to our wagons? im thinking to buy this.
  • FakeJDMEF8FakeJDMEF8 Senior Wagonist
Oh yeah, that will absolutely work😍😍😍😍

Did you even read this thread or any of the others?!?

    Christ...
  • you said it will work but will it be a complete bolt on?

and my bad for not reading the whole thread... i almost buy it this afternoon, i get excited when i saw it online so when i check the forum i didn't even bother to read the thread LOL
    sorry about that
  • SiWagonSiWagon Council Member
    No! It WILL not work.
  • FakeJDMEF8FakeJDMEF8 Senior Wagonist
I promise you it will not work, nor will it bolt on. If you have a welder, get creative:) 🔥🔥🔥💣

15" works for me - I already have to run those for the prelude fronts. I was looking at doing some adaptors for the prelude rears for the rt4wd, I just haven't had the time for r&d in the shop lately. I have the trailing arms already, just gotta find a set of prelude rear clipers and rotors to test fitment.

I'm considering buying a rusty old wagovan tomorrow to restore and I absolutely hate drum brakes. I've been googling things all day trying to find a bolt on solution and I read through this whole thread. I found something else though, but I need to know if the FWD wagovan rear spindles are the same as other EF spindles. If they are, would the scarebird rear disc conversion kit work? It mounts to the spindle and lets you keep your stock trailing arms.

Im also going to be attempting this sometime in the future, I have the entire rear disc brake system off a 89 si crx

I've got something in play that will be available within a month (2 months, tops).

Will that only work on the RT4WD though?

Ah, fair enough. I only have the capacity to tackle one project at a time. I plan on sourcing a 2WD RTA once I have the RT4WD version finalized and out of production.

I'm going to ask my question again because the scarebird kit WOULD actually work if this is the case. Are the FWD Wagovan rear spindles the same as any other EF civic? His kit bolts to the spindles and eliminates the need to modify the trailing arms, which I believe is the only problem with OEM brake swaps.

I'm the resident Rear disc brake expert.
The rear spindles are different from the front, the 2wd, 4wd ,CRX Si,Teg,& sdn EX spindles. The prob w/ the Wgn is it needs one design for the 2WD & a different design for the 4WD.
You don't really need to search else where. All the info for the conversion is on this site unless maybe it got purged during the site upgrades. There's about 4 members(both 2 &4 WD) that've done their own conversion on this site & I've seen a few off this site. Some r good others are so so.If you read slow enough there's a lot of info just in this thread by me & others.

There NO rr disc aftmrkt kits for the wgn. 'cuz the mrkt is too limited.

if its in a good price range and easy to find parts please lmk.

i have to re do my rear brakes anyway, i will hold off if your kit/bracket is going to be a good one. i hate drum brakes

That's the idea, the brackets I am engineering are to utilize OE Honda parts.
