Fairing Sticker Bomb Teaser
HOPE ALL HAD A MERRY XMAS! Had my vinyl cutter damn near smoking these past few days.
Some shown were xmas gifts and not going on fairing, but 10+ shown here will be....
Damn that fairing looks good!!! I'm not going to lie it was messin with my mind to see it until you mirrored it haha. Cool idea tho
Thanks! I just thought it would be a little diff to be able to make all of them mirrored since I had the capability to do it. Im sure it will cause a few double takes going by! It was at least 3 full nights work, lots of measurements, placement and replacements but I think it turned out pretty good. Anyway, check out post again as I updated pics on previous post to show how the final looks after tonite. Ill get it mounted and eventually get some pics with it on the wagon.:encouragement:
Minor Setback
On my way home Sat and she started sputtering and falling on her face trying to accelerate, then started misfiring so bad, I thought the rods and springs were going to come thru the hood.
Fortunately I was just down the road from my in laws and was able to shut the car off and coast into their driveway.
Nothing obvious with popping the hood, but its been rainy and near freezing temps so it sat overnight.
Got over early today to take a further look
Went to pull plugs and found #1 was sooo loose I thought it was stripped, but discovered it was just loose. #2 plug port had so much oil in it it covered the whole top of the plug. #3 had oil up to the start of the porcelain on plug. # 4 was fine.
Got oil cleaned out of ports, pulled plug and this is what I found: #1 plug is on the top and #4 plug (just for reference on bottom) E3 plugs too WTF!? The wagon now has Densos
So these finding would explain my loosing power and stuttering and puttering.
New valve cover gasket, spark plug channel gasket rings, Cleaned wires, boots, replaced plugs and got her home to change oil and look for any signs of damage.
Magnet before:
Oil drained and then searched with magnet.
Thankfully, ALL CLEAN!
Filter cut open.
I havent done this in a while, but figured this would be a good excuse to do it again
(be careful not to confuse any new shiny metal from cutting with existing metal caught by filter)
For those that havent done this before, the accordian paper stretched out is almost 4ft long!
Thankfully like the oil, all checked out clean.
I will run it around the next few days and then plan on pulling the plugs, checking the tips and possibly doing a compression test.
Now putting the wing back on the top of the wagon project list.
Also stay tuned for a few leftovers from the xmas workshop....(hint)
UPDATE: 1-16-13 ONE ON THE LEFT IS GONE. I do still have the smaller one on the right.
As promised and for those that follow my thread and that were interested, here are 2 prototypes shift knobs that I made prior to the one I ended up using on mine.
Both of these are made of Birch and are about 3 inches tall, have been stained a light brown and clear coated.
The one on the right is about 1.75 inches across and has the Honda logo and text in white. It was originally stained black, then sanded down and stained again a light brown which gives it a rustic look. When threaded on and lined up straight, the knob leans just slightly away from the driver (you can see in 3rd pic).
The one on the left is just under 2 inches across and has the honda H and Honda Civic cut out of vinyl so that the stained wood shows thru. It is subtle, but visible. When threaded on and lined up straight, the knob leans just slightly to the driver (you can see in 3rd pic).
If you are interested, please do not hijack the thread with your responses. Please just send me a PM with an offer and I will reply. 1st come, 1st served!:encouragement:
Working on a replacement PGM-FI decal. Had to use a slightly different font than OEM, but is pretty damn close. Im still working on the final OEM sizing, but think I will get something that will work. Ill post pics once it is final.
PGM-FI Decal
Per request, I took on the challenge to recreate the PGM-FI sticker that is on the OEM wagon covers.
Started with a pic and then converted file into the cutting software. I was able to convert it to look pretty close to OEM, but as a die cut decal, of course.
Made numerous trial cuts out of some scrap orange vinyl (which I have a lot of and prob wont use). Did some updated measurements and estimating between each cut.
Customization takes patience, numerous measurements and cuts...
...but in the end, an accurate fitment is the goal:
Made some subtle final changes to the "DUAL POINT" lettering to make it all line up exactly.
Comments
If i end up turning one, i will document it as i have done with my other upgrades.
Santa has heard that there maybe some "prototype" knobs laying around the workshop after xmas....

Thanks, and if your referring to my idle issue back in may, I discovered that there was a sensor plug not plugged in referenced here:

And for you visually challenged, how it will look in your full-length rear view:

Here is the final decal in Black
would look cool to have them on the front doors under the trim too
My crx now whistles when you fire it up. So I'm on the hunt for a new a6.
Mad props on all the factory looking stickers.
