Windshield Wiper Speed Woes

Hi Everybody,
Searched around for an answer to this but couldn't seem to find anything so I'm hoping someone here can help out. My '89 wagon has 3 wiper speed settings, initial, low and high. The thing is, I live in Seattle and we have like 29 different kinds of rain here and I am finding that my initial speed setting is still a bit fast for for the lite sprinkles that we get so often. So do any of you know if there is a way to add more speed settings to our front windshield wiper? I'd love it if it would have an elongated initial setting for that really lite rain. I know, pretty silly thing to want but it has been bothering the crap outta me for some reason.

    Just do it manually, push the wiper arm down to initiate the wipers. Make your own speed setting without changing anything!

    Your worried about intermittent wipers? What about cup holders.. I think cup holders are more important! LOL

    agree - if the intermittent setting is too fast just do a single wipe when you need it.

    I know exactly what you mean about needing more intermittent wiper speeds in Seattle! Hella makes exactly what you want. It's part number 001871041 . It's a small box that wires up in between the wiper switch and the low speed wiper wire, and has a knob that gives you an infinitely adjustable intermittent speed. I installed one on my other car, but haven't gotten around to putting one on the wagon, because they're not all cheap. I had actually thought of putting it on the rear wiper first, since I think it's almost useless to have a rear wiper that only runs on low. One with an intermittent speed is much more useful.

    Do a search.I came across a aftmrkt wiper that comes w/a adj. sensor for rain for around $60. like the one's found on newer cars.
