Seen a few 4 door window and lock kits on ebay, but will contact DEI tomorrow to see if they have 4dr lock AND window kits. Hopefully, they have something. Worst case, Ill try out the ebay kit for $120ish shipped. and take my chances.

Called DEI on Wed....what a friggin waste of time! First, took the route the recording suggested and ended up getting routed to a supposed local dealer. Didnt even know what I was talking about. "We sell alarms, but nothing like that" IDIOTS.

I called DEI back and after many touchtone selections, finally spoke to someone in customer service. Customer Service, MY ASS! I explained to her the history and my unsuccessful attempts thus far and that I knew DEI made a 4 door lock kit and was wanting to get the info on those and anything on auto window kits if they made them. She didnt know and transferred me to someone else. Explained my story again and was on hold for 5 mins while she tracked down a "technician" that I could actually speak with to help me. She finally came back on and said she was going to transfer me to him......Instant voicemail. I unleashed on the voicemail and vented my frustration on getting someone that could answer my simple question, left my info and im still blue holding my breath waiting on a call back. HA

Still doing some research on an ebay combo, and will prob take my chances on one. Not too concerned about the door lock actuators, but not too confident on the window kits. Anyway, just wanted to give you an update and be glad you have a good local installer that can get parts. If you have any more info lmk. In the meantime, I will continue to search.

Sighting Alert: Spotted in the wild, the elusive and exotic Civic Wagon can be seen here, grazing between two large Bull Elephants. With preservation and a little luck, hopefully we will continue to catch glances of this rare species thriving in the beautiful NW.

I hit up the Ziggy Marley concert last night with my friend and while I was at his house I couldn't pass up a picture of our two wagons, especially since I took this same shot only 2 months ago. Crazy to see my wagon bone stock compared to how it is now.

His wagon has been broken into since I took the last picture, and the thing is pretty well thrashed. He is going to trade me out some parts on his that are in better condition...what a friend:)

Wow its crazy to see how differnt your Wagon looks now. Not very into the stanced scene, but I do have respect for a clean Wagon. And sir, you have yourself a very, very clean Wagon. Keep up the great work!

    i love it!
  • knottyyknottyy Wagonist
Thanks guys! Yeah, sometimes stanced life can be a pain but every time I come out of my house or a store and see my car I fall in love all over again. Call me silly but I just love the look of a stanced wagon:) That being said I'm sure your car is set up much better for getting around the track faster.

Alright, I'm back with another update....and a good one at that! I hired a mobile installer that I found on craigslist and he turned out be to completely AWESOME. I think I mentioned him earlier in my build thread, but if anyone in the Seattle area needs car/home/boat audio done I would highly suggest my homie Donato. I had him come out a little while back and install my deck, alarm, 4 channel amp, auto door locks and rear speakers which he build custom speaker pods for as we couldn't find a place to mount them. I had a box made but asked Donato if he could make me a custom one to fit between my rear seats and my rear strut bar so I could still have a good amount of trunk space available. It was a super close fit, and he had to rework the box once as it wouldn't quite fit correctly. He came back out last Friday to finish things up, just in time for our NW meet.

Here are the speaker pods he built for my 6.5" rears. Notice the nice rounded edges. These will mount to the sides of the main sub box which will put the speakers in close to OEM position, firing upwards. I love that he was able to find carpet that matched pretty well.

Since the box needed adjustments, I just rocked the rear pods by on the trunk floor for a bit. It was amazing to hear the difference just adding front and rear Polks Audio coaxials and an amp to power them, super crisp and clean!

Here you can see the old box that I made many years ago, with the new box Donato made sitting on top of it

The finished product. Sorry for the cell phone picture, my camera broke the other day but you get the idea of how it fits in there. I love that I still have a good amount of trunk space for my dog and other stuff. I love how clean it is, and how it matches. I may add some Dynamat to tighten things up a bit, but overall I am very pleased with the way everything turned out and with how it sounds. It's so nice to be able to listen to my music properly now!! Hit me up if you need my installers information.

Pretty sweet setup. How does it sound?
  • knottyyknottyy Wagonist
It sounds really good! Really clean with just enough bass. Actually it can be too much if turned up. I'm not tryin to go deaf or annoy the people around me like I did when I was in high school and had 3 JL 10w6's in a custom plexiglass box. I'm trying to get it all dialed in, this new deck has all kinds of crazy treble/bass options that I don't really understand. I'll need to pad my license plate frame and do something about my rear cowling that goes on top of the rear window as it is a little loose on the right side and rattles a bit. Overall I am very happy with it, it can play an eclectic range of music cleanly.
  • looks good i would have never thought of a setup like that
  • lecoqlecoq Wagonist
Nice. I'm in the same boat. I'm going to be running an 8 inch dual voice coil and I might copy your idea for rear speakers. sounds weird with nothing back there lol.
  • Knotty you never cease to amaze me with your wagon. I only wish my car has come as far as yours has. Keep up the good work my friend. And hit me up! Cause we need to plan another meet. Or just a day where we can all kick it
  • knottyyknottyy Wagonist
Thanks guys, yeah the rears make a big difference! I couldn't imagine not having them now. I just kinda wish I had a cargo cover so that everyone couldn't see it (and possibly want to take it). I think we're trying to plan out another meet for the end of August, most likely closer to Portland. I hope you can make it! And yeah I'm down for even a small day meet. Caiti and I bought a groupon for a hotel in Leavensworth so maybe we can have a small meet there for fun coming up. I like the idea of Octoberfest! Heck maybe Caiti and I could meet you around Cle Elum for some camping coming up. We wanna hit up Salmon-La-Sac or Cooper Lake or something. Chill out and fish a bit. Try and figure out how to get my boat out there.
  • Yeah that all sounds good. Just let me know when like a week or two in advance and i can tell Kimi so she can get work off.
  • mosdefbeemosdefbee New Wagonist
Oh wow. Motivates me to get my speaker pods in! haha. Do you have the measurements on the sub box? I got a 10in with a huge square box lol and the strut bar being there doesnt help either as to having trunk space :hopelessness:. Very clean set up!
  • knottyyknottyy Wagonist
I'll take measurements tomorrow and put them up. I had that same square box and was like funk dat, I ain't gonna let that eat up my trunk.
  • TerminusVoxTerminusVox Senior Wagonist
Congratulations on the least obtrusive sub box I can remember seeing in a wagon! That location is my second choice in case my other crazy idea never pans out. The thing about wagons (and minivans, too) is that they are all cabin with no real hiding places.

Question though; what about a grill? It'd be a shame if your dog or tripod or what not pierced your speaker.
  • I have a cargo cover if you want it I can't use it cuz my speaker pods. Just give me the 15 bones I paid for it at pull a part looks cool fits perfect.
  • Hey Knotty, did you get any more info on the door lock actuators and how they are mounted?
  • knottyyknottyy Wagonist
mosdefbee: Do it man, it makes a HUGE difference. Honestly I could have been pretty happy with just my fronts and rears installed. The sub is just icing on the cake:) Here are the measurements I took of the outside of the box, hope it helps.
    7.png

TerminusVox: Thanks! It was either there or in the spot where the spare tire goes, but I kinda wanted to keep my spare and I would have had to remove my trunk carpet as well to allow the base to throw and I didn't really want to do that either. I probably will add a grate sooner or later, although I rocked that sub without one for about 5 years. It's a hard plastic cone so it's tough and hard to mess up. It's in there pretty tight though, so I'd have to see if a grate would even fit. In my mind the sub is an old, cheap one that I have already gotten my use out of so even if it goes it's ok, I have another in my closet.

metalfrisbee: Ah shit, that'd be dope! Does it totally kill the sound from your rear speakers though? I wonder if it'd do the same to mine. Shoot I'd be down to give it a try though, maybe we can meet up sometime in Seattle when you rock a show or something. Grab a beer.

black_89gt: I found that they are made by a company called DEI and that you can purchase them off amazon.com. As for mounting, I really don't know. I think there is a picture of them mounted back in my build thread but other than that I didn't pay attention when he was doing it, sorry about that.

Did a small fix on my wagon the other day and figured I'd share. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic, but I had to send my camera in to Canon for repairs so it's cell shots for the next week or two. I managed to slightly pull my right front fender in by catching it on a tread in my tire when coming out of my driveway. There is a dip, and it makes my coilovers compress quite a bit, and when you turn the wheel if it's happens to line up just right the lip of the fender will catch in a tread and it'll be pulled in towards the wheel. Not cool. I need to do more work to my fenders so that I can avoid this in the future. My goal is to make mine like driftin90's where they are all hammered out smooth as it looks super clean and should give me good clearance. In the mean time I wanted to get the small dent out of my fender as I was scared it would catch again being pulled in like it was. I jacked the front right of the car up and used my heat gun to warm up the fender. I then placed a few old psychology textbooks on my tire and dropped the car down, bending the fender back outwards. It isn't the prettiest but it worked and got my fender back out and gave my tire some room. I feel like it made the crack between the front door and the front fender just slightly bigger, which I don't like but it's only noticeable if you really look back and forth between the sides. I plan on trying to find a new fender one day so I can start fresh.

Nice 3rd4ce! Thanks for the help on that. I cannot tell you guys how much I love having power door locks, I wouldn't want to live without them now that I used to them. I would really like to get power windows at some point though, I really really miss that.

Went to Binford Metals in Kent today to check out a wagon they had there. I heard they had a blue one and a cream one, but came to find they only had the cream still there. Was hoping to snag some front fenders, a front seat skin, front bumper cover, rear upper wing thingy, e-brake handle, etc.. My drivers seat is all busted up, my front bumper cover is jacked in the corner from the previous owner running in to something, the rear upper wing is cracked on one side and rattles from the subwoofer and my e-brake is all nasty because there was 4 inches of standing water in the rear of the car when I bought it, and mold throughout. I really wish I would have taken pics of my wagon when I first got it to show how nasty it was. I ended up finding a red front strut bar which kinda matched my red theme so I snagged it for $20. I also grabbed a blue e-brake handle and an AC button (even though I don't have AC, might be a cool kill switch or something). Pavementwago met me out at the yard after work for a bit, and we had a little fun rummaging through stuff like an easter egg hunt.

    New front strut bar
    777.jpg

New e-brake handle, and I also spray painted the button silver as all the paint was gone from it
    778.jpg

I tried to remove a Y8 manifold for a MPFI swap but wasn't able to get it off with the limited tools and knowledge I have. I'll have to study up, head back and give it another go. There was also a cool cat I met at the yard who owned a wagon (actually met two wagon owners and invited them to meets) and he offered me a complete Y8 manifold for $80. I have no idea if that's a good deal or what, any input? While there I also tried to pull all the components for power windows from an LX sedan but wasn't able to finish in time before closing. I'd also like to head back for that as well, as I'd really love to have power windows. The search for a new drivers seat continues!
