b]And did I mention that he can add power door locks?!? Geah!! Got all four power door locks installed for $150. So nice to be able to remote lock/unlock the wagon![/B]

Now I just need power windows and I'll be set! Hoping to get the box built, sub, amp and rear speakers installed when Donato gets home from vacation in about a week and a half. Can't wait to finally have some beats in my ride. I'll probably dynamat a bit to keep things sounding clean.

Can you find out the specific info on the aftermarket power lock and windows kits are? This is def a combo upgrade I want to eventually do and I was going to add those items to my junkyard things to look for, but if there is are tested, reasonably priced kits out there that are new and include a remote, then im sold!

Very clean upgrades and mods. Cant wait to see what you have next up your sleeves!

    Nice knotty. Mirror looks good.
  • Is that a Honda mirror? Or for some other car? I want one.....

Prennro - I'll have to ask my installer what gear he used. He says that he's tried a few different kinds and this is the best for the money. I'll report back when I find out.

Thanks guys, I am liking this mirror more and more every time I drive. It's from a Toyota AE70. I got it off of eBay for like $50 I think. May be some info buried in my thread. Should be easy to find on eBay but if not just PM me. I'll go over the whole install with you over the phone if that makes it any easier. They come it pairs, so I still have the drivers side if you want for any reason. I am just gonna stick with the OEM on the drivers side as I like the offset look.
  • I was skeptical at how the mirror would look but i love it. You never cease to amaze me with your shananigans

Thanks ledler I appreciate that homie. Prennro still waiting to hear back about the hardware but will let you know when I know.

I have been meaning to replace my exhaust as it's pretty busted, but I figured I'd hold off on doing that till I could just reroute the whole thing down the rear drive line channel. So in the meantime I figured I'd just paint it so it didn't look so crappy. Backed the wagon up onto ramps and washed the muffler off, then hit it with some degreaser. Washed that off, dried it and then sanded it down with some 300 grit sand paper. Hit it with 4 coats of VHT (very high temp) flat aluminum header paint. I would have done chrome if I could have found it in high temp, but the flat aluminum actually looks pretty good....not too flashy or anything.

Here's the ugly exhaust before hand

Here's the exhaust after cleaning/sanding and ready to be painted

And here's it is painted flat aluminum

I got a little overzealous with the paint and ended up hitting the LCA's and some other stuff

It looks a lot cleaner now. But hopefully I can get in and get my whole exhaust redone and rerouted sooner than later so I can gain some ground clearance.

I stopped by Big Lots today randomly and found a roll of Thick Grip Liner for $3. Decided to grab some to see what I could do with it and ended up making a nice little dash mat out of it. Now I can throw my iPhone up there without it sliding all around. I like the way it looks as well, it gives a nice clean touch to the dash.

It's a casual industries sticker and I got it from Zumiez. I cut it up as it had the I <3 on top and the WA on the bottom originally but it wouldn't fit my fairing like that.

I looked for mat in dark blue to match the interior but they didn't have it so I just went with white to match my rear blinds. They had black, brown and white on hand.

Will keep my eyes out for some brown or black. Thanks for tha heads up!
  • knottyyknottyy Wagonist
If you can't find it, I'd be happy to go grab some and ship it to you. You just gotta pay for USPS costs and the roll.
  • Didn't know they were NW based... you can order there stuff online! Pretty cool I have been looking for a few of the other stickers too. Heh

knottyy, while tinkering on the wagon last night, I snapped a few shots of a mod i did on my built eg hatch. If anyone would appreciate it, I figured you would:

Both are wired in via dash gauge cluster. Seatbelt light is functional and turns off when buckled. No smoking comes on when lights are on and both can be dimmed using dash dimmer. Usually gets the double take when passengers realize what it is.

Now use that for some more shinanigans inspiration!

Damn knotty that fender mirror looks amazing, I really want some now!

you need a lip asap brooooooooo

I know!!! It just doesn't look quite right without one. I have been looking for a Volvo lip without any luck. chadcouch said that he was gonna sell me his but I haven't been able to get a hold of him about it yet. chad if your read this hit me up!!! Or if anyone has an extra Volvo lip or knows where to find one please let me know.

Dood, that seatbelt/no smoking signal is dope!! Looks like it's straight out of an airliner. Custom sickness!! I'm curious if it lights up if your passenger's seatbelt isn't buckled. That's awesome, I'm jealous!

Thats cuz it is! Out of an older delta 747. Got it from a delta mechanic that worked at harsfield. He promised me a few, but only came thru on the one. The drivers side is the only side wired up.

Great mod! It's just the sort of detail that says 'this car belongs to an enthusiast'.

Definitely loving that custom piece of goodness. I think I may try and do the DA maplight some day, love me some light in my car. I'll be sure to put up some shots of my girls 1980 Accord sometime soon. She bought it right around the same time I bought my wagon, it came with 69,000 original miles and collectors plates. The thing has been maintained incredibly by an older woman who garaged it most of the time. It is such a sweet little car, it has tons of personality!

Thanks Devswagon, I appreciate that and it feels good to know that other people are enjoying my wagon as it seems like just the other day that I was wishing I had a wagon instead of actually working on one. It's crazy to go back through my own build and see how far she's come, it's almost like another car. Now days I am constantly thinking about what I will do/fix next. It almost feels weird when I don't have anything new to post about or new pictures to put up lol. I like going to be at the end of the day knowing my wagon is in better shape then when I woke up, even if it's only something small that I had done. I am the king of small projects because I am not super mechanical so I just try and do what I feel I can handle for now. But I also feel that a lot of times beauty is in the details. It's the little things that make a difference sometimes. And speaking of little things making a difference, I present to you my newest little endeavor.......painting my mud flaps.

I while I was at Hobby Lobby looking for material to make new rear blinds out of (want to replace my heavy metal blinds) I came across a Sharpie oil-based paint pen in the color white for $3.75. Went home, degreased and washed my mud flaps to get them prepped for paint, then donned my headlamp (it was night time) and laid down on the ground to start painting the Honda symbol. Ended up putting on 2 coats that night and a 3rd the next morning. Came out looking crispy! I think they look awesome, and really add a nice touch for only $3.75. What do you guys think?

Ok so I got the info about the actuators for ya. They are made by a company called DEI (Directed Electronics) and I guess you can buy them off of Amazon.com. Hope that helps!

Post up a pic of the pen you used to do your flaps. I've been wanting to do this bad lately. But couldn't come up with with a good plan haha

Looks real good though. Nice work.
