Wagon Specific Exhaust

I talked to my friend who owns a shop here in town and found out that he is getting a pipe bender( i think). And we have thrown around the idea of a bolt on aftermarket exhaust. Who would be interested?

has your friend worked out a replacement piece for the flexible joint?
And is his intention to avoid that FART can sound that is so prevalent on aftermarket Riceburners?
  • Is there a flex piece from the cat-back???

As soon as they get it ill have it done to my wagon and post video online.

This question is for someone who knows for sure :)
I've argued with a buddy of mine over this point. He claims there is NO flex at all. But i thought i remembered a pivoting point in front of the CAT, but he's saying no. It's not the braided kind of FLEXY pipe that was on earlier hondas, but i think i see a flex part on the Majestic blowup of the Exhaust System.

Anybody here actually work on exhaust that can tell us for sure?
  • Which part are you talking about? lol As in part number on that link? More than likely it wouldn't have a flex piece in it.

There is no flex in the standard system however there is a join that allows the piping to move backwards and forwads... but not up and down.
  • So who would be interested in a wagon specific bolt on "straight" exhaust?

    Yeah,
    it's part #17
i distinctly remember when my whole exhaust from the downpipe to the muffler was laying in my garage and there was some flexibilty to it right before the catalytic.
Like i said earlier......i know it's not as flexy as the exhaust that was on my 80 civic. That thing was a pretty pricey woven mesh pipe.
Just wanted to ask if your buddy was using the stock system as a blueprint. I've had 1st hand experoence with "Exhaust Guys" who just put in a solid pipe where some flex component was needed. This works for awhile, but sooner or later you get a crack at a bend or the bolts to the manifold work themselves loose. Alot of 4 cylinders are designed with a HUGE amount of rocking going on, hence the flexible part on the exhaust to accomodate that movement of the motor on it's mounts. So no offense, i was just asking if anyone here knew for sure what the components on our wagons consisted of.
Once i get a for sure response on this subject & the "Fart Can" sound i
would interested in a decently priced replacement should i need to replace mine. Who wouldn't be? :)
