I built a second hitch for a buddies wagon this week, took quite a few pictures for you guys and a parts list.
6ft 1.5"x1.5"x0.120" Square Tubing
1ft 2.5"x2.5"x0.1875" Angle Iron
11"x5"x3/16" Plate
7"x5"x3/16" Plate
Receiver tubing
Safety Chain Ring
4x bolts/nuts/lock washers (1/2" diameter x 1" long)
Caulk
Paint
The materials
Drill 4 holes in the 2 plates - leave enough room for the center and side tubes
Weld your 4 bolts to the larger plate
Use the larger plate to mark around the rear tow hook for cutting
Weld in the larger plate as level and centered as possible with the bolt threads going down
Measure your receiver tube so it fits how you want and doesn't hit the exhaust then weld it onto the smaller plate
Weld one your two side tubes to the smaller plate. These have to custom measured and angled for each car.
Drill the 3 holes in the angle iron and weld some tubing (about a foot) to them like this
With all the pieces in the car, cut and tack weld the last 2 connecting pieces onto the hitch then remove and finish welding - should look something like this

Comments
Not sure how it would work on mine though since I use an ST sway bar and have a wide lower rear lip. But still, I think it came out rather nice.

Not real impressed with the aftermarket hitches, so I'm planning on making one myself.
safety question...
Did you remove the gas tank to do your tack welding?
Is it a REAL concern?
I've been welding a bit, just not on cars.
