Update: I got the engine out of the integra today, pulled the intake and exhaust off, moving right along!
I THINK I have all the parts I need, except for a header, or another OE downpipe. Some goober welded it straight (no flange before the cat :? )
Harnesses will be sent for mods tomorrow. Will try to get the engine rebuilt this week, but there's a lot of holiday crap in my way!
Rods and mains are original, standard diameter, but well due for replacement.
pistons are far cleaner than the ones in the d15 I just did for the wife's car. Oil control rings are stuck some, but other than that no problems.
I was waiting to tear it down to see whether to order the $200+ oil pump... ordering it tomorrow.
In my expert opinion, this engine was well cared for early on, then was driven into the ground by a subsequent owner. The new head, new Honda timing belt, new water pump etc... :? Anyway, with the evidence of heat and early stages of bearing failure, I figure the oil pump has the same scars. At least the journals are all standard, just rings and bearing inserts to do there.
what do you mean by gasoline test, did you just clean it with gas?[/quote]
No, the old shadetree trick to check a head is to either pour gas in the combustion chambers, or into the intake/exhaust ports to see if it leaks through. It's a quick and dirty indicator of whether your valves are sealing. My trusty compression gauge and a squirt-can of oil had already told me that the head was good/rings were worn, this is just confirmation.
edit: But as a cool side-effect, I left the ccs full of gas while I tore down the bottom-end, then just a quick pass with a wire brush...so, yes I did clean it with gas!
I need a header recommendation... what will clear the crossmember in the wagon, give good service, not break the bank? (for b18a) Would like single, low mount O2 sensor, possibly 2-piece design like Megan?
looking very good man, very good... im doing a couple engine swaps this week as well (none in my wagon though. just into my hatchback project thats been sitting around)

yes, it's in the back seat  The lip is there, but it's pretty rough.
I'll try to get a pic tomorrow. Come get it if you want it.

Tore down the swap engine. I'ts as i suspected, the head is much younger than the bottom end.
The head passed the gasoline test with flying colors, this one will only get a quick lapping-job and new stem seals

And the funny thing is that all 4 fit in a one gallon can
Leave them in overnight and just rinse with water...voila!
