Loaded the shuttle up this morning with my 3 girls and the rear filled with scrap metal, sold my scrap put some fuel in and went out for a bit of a drive. Its the furtherst I have driven since doing the swap and I am pleased to say it all went well.

Its too bouncy in the rear so I am going to change the rear springs for something else at some stage in the future.

    Excuse the cell ph pics

And here are a couple of pics of an interesting looking little Fiat I saw sitting in a workshop near work.....

Had a day off work today and of course I found time to do something on the Shuttle. The passengers door wont lock or unlock with the key so I pulled the door panel off to see what's going on.
Turns out the connecting rod is MIA.
I decided to remove the factory speaker and install a newer Pioneer one I had sitting around, when I pulled it out I found a fuel card that must have been sitting in there for years, its not a NZ one and the car was imported here in 1998.

I thought it was a cool little find.

Hmm, I wonder what "Real Intimate Service" from a credit card provider would be...?

I am glad someone liked the stupid little story :) I thought it was cool when I found it sitting inside the door.

I tried my 15" steelies on the EF last weekend and it looked average at best so back to the BR's it is. I also decided that the ride quality was so shit I needed to chuck the standard springs back in the rear. Gutted im not low anymore but it is just so much nicer to drive.
  • 666DAN666DAN Wagonist
I really couldn't stand the ride height so today I pulled the rear struts out again and swapped the springs with some others I had lying around, no idea what they are out of but they are nice comprimise between how the standard springs and the superlow ones that were horrible ride quality.

I also took the thule racks off as the wind noise with the sunroof open was hideous, I really need to try a wind fairing to see what difference that makes.

Here is a shitty cell ph pic from last weekend when I tried the steelies on, I dont like it at all.

I will take some pics tomorrow of how she is sitting as of today.
  • 666DAN666DAN Wagonist
Managed to get a couple of quick pics today but I spent a couple hours washing Shannon because since she has been on daily driving duties she has been a little neglected.

Not as low as I would like but its not as high as standard height and the springs are still mostly captive where as the superlows weren't.
With the sun shining a little more regularly again I should be able to get more achieved during the weekends.

Are you putting them on OEM shuttle shocks? If so thats your problem, need EF hatch ones
  • 666DAN666DAN Wagonist
Yeah they are on the oem shocks, will the drop be decent on the hatch shocks? Will ef crx ones work the same because I have some of them still.
  • NZ-DB8RNZ-DB8R Moderator
    EF Hatch/CRX are the same

Drop wont be as much, but superlows will be captive and more comfortable. So probably a little lower than in your latest pics if you go back to the superlow springs.
Overall shock length is the same just the spring perch is lower on the Shuttle ones
  • 666DAN666DAN Wagonist
Ok sweet cheers for the info dude, a little lower than it currently is would make me happy. Ultimately I want adjustys but at this point in time my spending money on cars isn't on the top priority list, so it really is a case of make do with what you have got.
  • NZ-DB8RNZ-DB8R Moderator
If you have the bits there then give it go, if you are like me you will have had the suspension in and out so many times you can do it in 30mins. It will at least ride a little nicer since the shocks wont be on or near bumpstops.

Understand about other priorities, Im struggling not to spend too much on mine. Have a house to buy, and the bigger deposit I get then the sooner I can go back to cars again haha
  • 666DAN666DAN Wagonist
Yeah my basement is full of all sorts of Honda bits and pieces so I am pretty sure I have some rear shocks for a crx, if not the scrap place I sold my old EF7 to still has it there and all for shocks/hubs etc are mine so I will just pop up and grab them.

At the end of the day this car owes me $100 and just the hours we put into it so I am still friggin stoked to have a dohc zc powered shuttle for that price!

My kids chew up the money pretty good and being on apprentice wages is pretty shit too but the sooner I crank out my apprenticeship the sooner I get to spend decent money on toys.
  • NZ-DB8RNZ-DB8R Moderator
Trust me I know all about appretice wages, did two apprenticeships over 5years. Only got to decent money in March this year. Now I dont get to spend it :( (though I am wheel shopping currently for the CR-V)
  • 666DAN666DAN Wagonist
Hahahahaha wheel shopping for the CRV is a priority isn't it?

Not a lot has happened in a week but the Advan SA3R's made their way back on to the car.

It's been a productive week, I managed to get some 2nd hand tyres for the Advans for the grand total of a box of beers. I got 2 195/45/16 Continentals and a pair of Dunlop SP Sportmaxxx in 195/50/16.
I gave the lips a quick polish up with some cut and polish and they came up ok but I am not happy so I will be doing it again at some stage soon. I am also thinking of painting the centers but not sure what colour yet.
    531.jpg

I also acquired these Mugen seatbelt pads which go nicely with the era of when the tri-spokes were cool.

The last couple of evenings have been spent wet sanding and polishing the Advans lips....again. I am much happier with the results.

    607.jpg

Looking forward to getting them back on the wag to see how they look.
  • 666DAN666DAN Wagonist
Rocked up to R's Garage the other night and chucked the CRX rear shocks in with the superlow kings, bit disapointed with the result height wise but the ride quality is mint.
I also chucked the polished Advans on.

You have powersteering on that bad boy? If so did the dohc come with the bracket? I'm having a terribly hard time finding one to fit. I have read of the d16 bracket working but I can't quite get it. Only thing I have left to do on my wagon
  • ChaifeChaife Instagram grand master
Love the shot of the 2 wagons.
  • 666DAN666DAN Wagonist
Yeah both the sohc zc and the dohc zc had/have power steering, from memory we had to use the sohc bracket I think.

Cheers Chaife! I like that pic too. I really want to get some decent pics of both wagons together.
