Not new to car forums, but we all gotta start somewhere...

...so why not have it be on a forum that is devoted to the not so new need in my life. Been wanting a Wagovan forever, just never pulled the trigger on actually purchasing one.

That said, no, I still don't have one as of yet :(

The market for decent starter ones is fairly slim in my area right now, and as I live about 2 hours away from where I find most of them, they're getting snapped up before I can get there. It seems that the recent speculation of $5 a gallon gas has caused the local market to also become quite inflated on the pricing end as well.

I really hope to find a clean, clear titled, decent running, un-to-low molested, anything but blue Wagovan that is within my $2000 budget. Obviously the lower the entry price, the faster I can start on mods to my tastes. Seems to be a bit of a unicorn for me right now. I've tried in the past as well, but it always seems the market dries up shortly after I have the cash on hand. Then I find something else to buy, and pow, they're back again, lol.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to gleaning as much knowledge as I can from the forum, starting a build thread, and becoming part of the community.

    Welcome!

At least you're in WA. We have an abundance compared to the rest of the world.
  • Truth! Welcome to the forum.

That is true about the NW kinda cornering the market.

I'm headed out of town to Phoenix tomorrow, so I checked Craigslist down there just in case. Only 2 listings this morning.

BTW, I wanted to add that I'm looking for FWD not AWD, probably obvious by my budget. Manual trans only as well.

    Picky, picky, haha

I gotta say, this 20 posts before I can see the Marketplace section of the forum sure puts a kink in finding a Wago, lol

I understand wanting to keep the forum free of repeat posts and such, but there's only so many "ohhh, nice car" type posts (even if they are meant sincerely) a new member can make before sounding disingenuous.

And as far as technical threads, well, without a Wago, there's not a whole lot of reason to post in there. The lack of a Wago also negates a build thread, so I can't see many more posts happening for me until I manage to find one.

I guess I'm just relegated to looking on CL, word of mouth, or stumbling across one and then I'll start to light the boards on fire. :)
  • You can make a build thread in the non-wagon build thread section. Everyone else had to make the 20 posts also to make it into the marketplace.

ya the 20 post thing is inconvenient, but looking at the new members or recent pickups people have found make me even more eager to find a better wagon and driving it around all over the place. I just really love the look of them!
  • It is a bit inconvenient, but it is more inconvenient if you make an obvious attempt at making 20 quick posts like BCwagon has done. When we see a bunch of posts requiring approval and all the posts were made by the same member more than likely those posts won't get approved. Make 20 worth while posts, follow the rules, and you will have your post quota before you know it. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the fun. We run a tight ship here, mate!

It may seem inconvenient, but you'll end up appreciating that there's NO tolerance for shady dealings through this forum.

For what it's worth, this is NOT the place to shop for a good deal on a wagon. In fact, very few are ever offered for sale on here. Craigslist/ Tempest search is your best bet.

    Happy hunting!

I really hope it wasn't misunderstood as a complaint, what I said about the 20 post thing.

I totally get the reasoning behind for the policy, trust me. It was meant more as a tongue in cheek type statement.

Oh, BTW, I'm trying to find a wagon to replace the boring Escape I currently have as a daily. No one needs to make a build thread for that, haha. And my 720 is just in planning stages unfortunately.

Just wanted to let the powers that be know that this account can be deleted.

I ended up going with a CB9 instead. Loving the larger interior space.
