Ive had some extended before for a previous car. Most of the time there is a spacer in the body of the strut to limit the travel which can be removed/reduced or they can put in a longer shaft.
The Koni agent in NZ does it, same can be done for Bilstien
Just put your stock top hat on that should give you an inch.
ummm i already said i did in a previous post i did. also it gives back about 52mm back with the stock top hats. which translates into about 2 inches back.
and since i already did this i have the tires raised enough that it sits about 1 inch gap between fender and top of tire.

long anwer.
i even turned and preloaded it a little more. maybe about 5 turns after the spring gently touched the top hat.
i was hoping it would push it enough to get me about 1.5 inches. my original goal for this tire wheel combo was to get at least 1.5 inch gap for the front. i dont think it would be too bad with smaller wheels tho but im sticking with 17 inch rims and i dont like being forced to get lower profile tires to make the rims not rub.
try rolling the lips before getting tires. depending on where your at, someone should have a roller for rent. its not that hard when you have that roller and a heat gun. if there isn't, and if you have the resources, buy one and rent it out in your area. it will pay for itself.
sorry, don't mean to thread jack. but if anyone is in the market for some koni yellows, i just bought all four from ltbautosports.com for $470.66 to my door.
Did you buy them for 4th or 5th generation Civics? IIRC 5th generation suspension is taller than 4th and may net you another 1in higher. All you need to do is swap 5th gen front forks.
Running with the struts maxed out in the "up" position doesn't sound like a very safe idea to me anyway. That would mean if you were to go over a pothole or any other negative space in the road the strut would have no downward travel left thus leaving that tire not touching the pavement which I would think could cause some instability.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Those tops hats won't allow for a near normal ride hieght only run extended hats in the rear and adjust snap rings up to the top on them and lower the sleeves to match hieght Gluck welcome to the world of lowering

If you have a Koni specialist nearby they can disassemble them and increase the travel for you.
also if you mess with these the lifetime warrenty is over and that the amount that was paid has just gone down the toilet.

its not that. i am trying not to mod the fenders right now. i dont know if its even hitting yet because i have not driven it yet.
keep this a Q&A about the GC kit.

i seem to be fine as long as i dont go huge on the tires and or wheels. the back is fine. there is enough adjustments even with the top hats in place.
