integra break upgrade super cheap and easy

i bought the full suspension off a DA integra for $70 got the front rotors turned for a pizza and of course new pads. the swap is straight up u can use your original civic brake lines. I also have the integra PP valve and rear suspension still to put on but even just the front for now are a lot better than before im only like $100 into the whole project so far and its been worth every penny.

Where can I get the DA suspension for $70? I'd pick that up in a heartbeat.

Keep up the good work. I'd love to see a picture tutorial of this.

Is your wagon AWD? What year?

are there any benefits in using the DA suspension? ie bigger brakes, increase performance, stiffer/softer, stronger. etc.

somebody here tried to install the rear discs onto a wagon and it was a total pain... not at all like installing DA integra rears into a normal EF civic... which is pretty easy. If I recall, the problem was that the DA trailing arms didn't come close to fitting the wagon chassis.

    But, bigger front brakes FTW!!!

mrwagovan was the one. he did complete it too, and you're right, it was a total pain for him.

it says it here too on this site, http://www.angelfire.com/az3/hondawagon/brakes.html "I don't recommend this converstion to anyone"

the author of that site mentioned that its a lot of banging the metal to make things fit, mrwagovan says that its metal and fab work in order for things to get in. if you're gonna attack this, call him first.

that is an awsome article i scanned through it but from what i did see yes it doesnt look easy but i know a lot of old timers that are awsome fabricators and im sure with there help ill be able to pull it off. i dont have sedan e-break cables but there is another wrecked integra near me that has the cables if i need them. BTW if any other fellow WA folks want some cheap DA breaks/suspension for there wagon the sedan i may take the e-break cables from has a clean set-up and its prolly cheaper than mine was...... i still need to get a better master cylinder what is a better direct bolt on that i can use?

im surprised mrwagovan hasnt jumped on this yet. but he's using a 15/16th master cylinder. i cant seem to find that exact thread where he talks about his whole 4 disc conversion.

    15/16ths from what car?
  • i think i read on his site it was from a 92-95 civic ex

im not sure from which car mrwagovan used it from. where is he? haha he needs to be answering these questions. i bet he's out there playing with his new TSX and MDX.

You can get the 15/16th master cylinder from an 89 accord. But I had to do a bit of bending on one of the hard lines to get it to match up. It takes forever but worth it.

how much harder is it to put on 94 gsr brakes on a 91 wagon?
  • turbo_tegturbo_teg Council Member
i dont know but i would imagine its not worth it might as well just stick with a simple bolt on set-up but if u realy want something different then please try it out...

Im working on my rear disc now. I agree that is not easy and its not cheap but i think its worth it at the end. Especially if you have a swap. You definately need more stopping power compare to what our wagons come with.

Are the front rotors 10.31"? I ask because integras have two different sizes(10.31" & 9.41") depending on the model and year. I need to get my ish straight before heading to the yard. Me want, Me want!

Thanks SI, I've read about that type of upgrade. It sounds like Turbo_teg is sayin the teg brakes are a direct bolt on(no need for re-drilling Prelude rotors :D).

so is there a better master cylinder to use other than an 89 accord.... i dont want to have to bend the ish out of one of mt break lines
