a6 z6 mini me swap issues.....help

hello everyone.

i just did a a6 z6 mini me swap on my 88rt. its a straight up a6 bottom and z6 head. it has a comp cams valve springs. im using a p28 ecu. conversion obd0 to obd1 from monotech. it has 4 wire o2 sensor and gsr throttlebody.

my issues are the following.

code 41 which is o2 heater. i wired it incorrectly the first time. i dunno if i fried the ecu or the o2 heater itself.

the idle is not stable. it doesn't do hunting or up and down like there is vacuum leak. when it does cold start it idle higher like a 1k rpm but as soon as the temp needle moves up a little the rpm goes down and it dies, but once it reaches normal operating temp it some how stays at 750 rpm. it doesn't stay that way when i step on the gas and release it. somehow the engine struggle to put the rpm back to where it belongs at idle speed.

when i turn on the a/c, there is no idle up and the rpm goes down to a point that it dies.

i did some searching here and other forum but didn't find anything exactly or similar to my issues. if somebody here who have encountered this issues please feel free to comment. good ideas are surely welcome.

thanks in advance

  • nothing here????
  • Change your coolant temp sensor on the bottom of the dizzy and the idle check the throttle body it has a valve on the bottom close o tighten it and that will work and your check your cooling lines to the idle control value

you may have fired the 02 sensor itself.

if you do an engine management like chrome or hondata it should clear up the issue.
  • thanks for the replies my wagon family. my latest issue and found the hard is the gasket leak. replaced the gasket twice with a 2 layer y8 head gasket. the machine shop forgot check the flatness of the block deck. the machine shop told me if i use a a6 gasket his solve the issue. i don't want to go that route. the second option is to take out the block and have it deck.

courses of action are as follows.

    1. use a6 gasket which i don't like

    2. remove the block for decking. i dunno if this a good idea.

    3. have the other a6 block rebuild but this is costly since i have to buy parts such as piston rings gasket and etc.

if you have better idea pls let me know.

thank you for reading my post.

you have seen my issues in the past.

i would recommend that you just do it right the first time. there is no better choice out there than to just take the block out and deck it. you wont have any headaches trying to guess if thats the issue if something else comes up.

also you wont have to buy new parts like you said.

also there is a 3 layer head gasket thats oem. i can give you the part number if you need it. i just need to look for it.
  • thanks for the reply.

its just a pta to remove the block again. im still debating on the best solution to my issue.
  • bleed the air out the coolant system!
