No spark!!

So heres the situation. On my 91 RT the clutch recently went out. To replace it I was forced to remove the whole engine/transmission assembly. When everything was out I removed all a/c related things in the engine bay. Now that I have everything back in place the engine wont start. I came to the conclusion that there is no spark but there is power going into the dizzy. Just none coming out. Is there a crank sensor that I could have overlooked possibly? Or a ground to the dizzy? I know that the dizzy itself is not the issue, because I put another one on and same thing.

  • mopst likely its your ignition coil. Its a common problem in this weather. moister does it. Its cheap. just take out the screws and be careful removing the rotor. shes an ass sometimes. good luck bud.
  • Have you checked to see if your main relay is still good? This is always the first thing I check on all of my hondas because about 80% of the time this relay is the problem. Its gotten to the point were i carry a spare. Are you getting fuel? because a main relay would also make it so you dont get fuel.

check the earth that bolts onto the thermostat housing
  • Id check the main relay. They tend to go out on alot of civics.
  • actually the first thing to check would be the igniter chip . or the coil its self . but leaning to the igniter chip replace that with any 88-00 civic , prelude, accord, intergra, delsol , etc... they are the same in all honda/acura from 88-00 .....
  • I got it running this morning. It was the ground on the thermostat housing apparently. But now 2 things are wrong with it running.

    1. Speedo does not work. I am 90% sure I installed it correctly however I think I pulled on the chassis end of it. Where does it connect to?

    2. CEL comes on randomly. Is the double pin connector to cross in the same spot as all obd 1 hondas?

1 - make sure the cable is pushed into the gearbox proerally - Ive had them feel like they are in but not be seated, rock the car a bit to get the cable to seat.
2- Possibly the light is coming on because there is no speed signal, fix the speedo and the light should go away.

I have done a write up on testing distributors with lots of pics
