I love the Subaru intercooler idea. I have often wondered if it would work... B16 or 18 turbo with a top fed intercooler would be sick..,then I can keep my AC.
Oh it will work, just depends on if I get the time to make it work. IMO a topmount or nice air/water setup is the only way to go on these short nose bastards, lol. I'm actually picking up another suby core for free this week
looking pretty good man, looks like abut the same size lift I did.
Thanks! Question though, did you lose any traction capabilities after the lift due to reduced downward travel?? I decided to get mine dirty today and while the extra ground clearance was welcomed the traction was lacking a bit compared to stock height. Damn open diffs, haha.
Would love to see some flares and some wider wheels on this bad boy
While those mods would push it over the edge I'm pretty strict about not doing irreversible mods. Is anyone on here rocking flares? I wouldn't mind seeing what they would look like. I think the HX wheels are 6" wide and the 195-75s seem to sit really well on them. I'm not sure the trans would like even more stress. Trying to keep repairs to a minimum and fun-abilily/ functionality to a maximum.
Well it has become clear that air suspension is going to be the only solution to having nice, soft, useable travel and articulation. $250 should cover a basic 2500# bag setup with manual front/back valves. I could even connect two solenoids that link the sides to the 4WD button for max articulation. That way I wouldn't have to worry about massive body sway when in 2WD mode. In the future I could add a self leveling computer and all kinds of doo-dads.
Snowballing for sure, haha
Everyone loves it though, gets looks everywhere I go.
i have not ran into any traction issues yet. i have about 300 more miles on the break-in of the motor before i go do some stupid stuff. I'll let you know what i run into.
i think my issue is going to be the suspension i used. it is for a much heavier car than my wagon (93 accord front struts, 90 integra rear) and i think im going to have to replace the struts with something a little softer so i dont get the bounceback i have....i'll keep you informed with what i find though. i wish i had the four link solid axle rear end you have though...i am jealous.
Even the solid axle and four link don't always keep you planted
Yeah let me know what you find out. I took the wago out to a popular 4 wheeling spot (Butcher Jones) to test it out a bit. Check tire pressure for the first time since I got them mounted and found out Discount didn't inflate them to my specs, they were at 40psi! After a little adjusting down to 27 the ride and traction was much better. In fact I climbed some steepish stuff and never once had any issues. It was a blast to run with the jeeps but now i'm itching to weld my rear diff.......maybe after a spare trans is located.
$250 for front and back bag setup?
You talking just an air lift type setup?
Would love to know what parts you would use I'd love to setup my 2wd with air to drop it to the ground when parked and raise it up to drive.
A little different then what your trying to do but none the less would still use the same parts.
Nice work on the lift looking mean already.
Reminds me of a tracker my friend use to have lifted mini monster truck.....
worst case scenario you break stuff and have to rebuild them stronger
lol.....thats how K swaps happen. I dunno, it was never meant to be a crawler but I think it did surprisingly well given how stock it still is. A jeep guy stopped me on the trail to talk, he first asked about the 4wd. Then was pretty surprised that it was bone stock with a lift and tires, haha.

$250 would be about the cost of four double convoluted #2500 bags, line plus fittings and 2 manual valves. The rest I would fabricate from scratch so pretty much free-ish. If you want a complete setup with tank, compressor, electric valves you are probably going to be looking at $1000+, especially if you need strut-bags. It can get expensive but if you set everything up right and use quality stuff you won't be let down by the ride quality!
More pictures? Don't mind the weld quality on the temporary spring cups please
You have some mad skills man, I have been searching for a tidy 4wd one over here for a couple years almost with no joy..one day!!
You probably missed it because this site is AWESOME and has sooooo many amazing builds. I also love how there isn't any bullshit here. Thanks for the compliment! One day you'll luck out I'm sure. If you truly want one it will find you Law of Attraction
I saw mine on craigslist, called the guy up and said I would buy it no questions asked, site unseen. Put my cherry 88 CRX up for sale to fund the acquisition and here we are.
I let this mint go to a friend. Bone stock 88 Crx Dx with fresh red OEM Honda code paint, full interior with Si seats. Can't look back
I was going to trade my s10 pick up for this wagon back in December, but I got cut off and totaled the truck on i17, ON MY WAY TO THE SWAP. The seller sold the car the very next day, I guess to you. Anyways, his name was Eddie I think, if thats the guy you got it from, he lives in Anthem. Glad to see someone is doing something with the car, but I was so bummed when I found out he sold it, because I would have paid cash, but he had already got rid of it.
Nice wagon and nice build.

lifted wagons ftmfw!
Longer shocks will net me about 2 more inches of travel....then its up to the axles and driveshaft to see what they will take

lol if you're talking about the civic wagon truck thing, we decided that does not count as a lifted wagon hahaha

I'm sure Oregon has some stuff you can get into trouble with. But for sure, we deff need to start a sweet 4 wheeling wagon picture thread.
I'll have a bunch more pix in a couple weeks when my buddy shows me some spots....in his K swapped RTAWD
RT vs 4WD
EW1500 vs K24
Rock on!!!
I want this to be a nice build
Going for clean modified not over the top hacked craziness
This is kind of what I'm going for. A little out there but still has some taste.
That one I'm missing ....And yes those are solid billet aluminum spikes
Nice Bus.
me want solid billet spikes ......
We really are going to have to have a HCW Off-Road Rally Meet..
There is a few of us playing with lifts and tires..
Keep up the good work man!
Nice wagon and nice build.
