Chassis Numbers

Band Wagon
Interestingly I've found that my chassis number doesn't match up to anything i've seen in workshop manuals,
my number for the chassis is **EDITED by Pacifier**
and my engine number is 1627945
Anyone here with amazing cryptography skills? :P

I edited your post to save you a bit of grief.
The number you are looking for is usually on a blue anodised plaque which is riveted to the front support structure (above and in front of the radiator).
Typically a third gen chassis code will start with "EW".
I'd look under the bonnet of my car and tell you but err... she's kinda MIA.
This is my reason for not posting your information:

yes, typically they do, but I still insist mine starts with CB
Its quite possible as you say that this is how they came in NZ.
Wow, your numbers in New Zealand are a lot different than the US numbers. Here in the States it's the ENGINE code that starts with EW (also D15). And the Chassis code for the 3rd gen Wagon would be either AN, VN, AR, EC, or EY depending on which model wagon you have (DX, 4WD, or Wagovan).
Isn't the VIN (chassis code) stamped along the firewall under the hood? If so, maybe that'll match up to your workshop manuals.
btw Pacifier - Thanks for posting that link above. Very informative.
I never realized how risky it was to post a VIN on the internet.
My mates 3rd gen wagon (with mugen rims even!) is JDM and the chassis code started with EW.. How random.
In NZ the chassis code and VIN are two seperate items - every car that is in NZ has a unique code supplied by LTSA (Land Transport Safety Authority) which is stamped on a silver plaque as close as possible to the original chassis code.
The Chassis Number stamped on the firewall is the same as the one that i have on the little blue plaque.
The last Toyota Corolla rolled off the line in thames, now everything is assembled overseas and sent here in shrinkwrap.
Oh wait... Ford still make alloy wheels here... lol.
And err LTNZ, LTSA... still have no idea why they keep changing the acronym...
The silver plate is on every pre 1990 car i have ever seen in NZ but i know my dad's falcon didn't have it (that was a 1998). I guess there is indeed something we can consistantly rely on in NZ... inconsistancy.
Hahahahahahahaha... So true!
My old Diamante has one, and that was a 1990, and my mum's old Bongo van had one too. and that was a 1992. My dad's 1998 bounty doesn't have one, though it is a NZ New too.
I doubt ford will be making alloy wheels for much longer, given that everyone is outsourcing.
