There is five (5) bolts holding in each rail. I simply unbolted them, paid my $9, and headed to Harbor Freight. There I picked up a threaded insert tool (http://www.harborfreight.com/45-piece-threaded-insert-riveter-kit-1210.html) for under $20. It also came with enough inserts to mount the rack. Credit goes to bam-bam for this. His mod, not mine. And I bugged the shit out of him about it until I got mine installed (thanks man!).
I removed the headliner. Lined up the rails. Taped them down. Drilled my holes. Used the tool to insert the nuts. Bolted on the rack. Vacuumed out the interior (shavings). And rinsed off the car (shavings on roof too). In all it took about an hour and a half including a trip to the car wash.
I left the headliner out so I could watch for leaks. Absolutely none! I am going to epoxy the outside of the nuts to insure they are water tight. But just haven't had a chance to do it and re-install the headliner. Hopefully this weekend if it stays dry.
Here's what the nuts look like on the inside:
Installed. Utilizing a Yakima rack.
The idea was to have them wide enough to put a basket in between, not on top. I just haven't found a basket locally yet.
Looks good, you are the second person I have seen do this. Looks like I might try and do the same for my rack too. Let me know if you end up having leaks. Ill probably just end up putting some silicone on for good measure.
I immediately regret selling the car. Even though it's only been gone about 10 minutes. Thrilled she's going to a good guy, that will take care of her and use her the way she was intended.
Man I hate you let that wagon go, but i know it is for the greater good and you'll be back in a wagon all too soon.
Man...that bull bar and piaa's look sexy! I hope to have a set-up like that some day. Just too hard to find those here in the states.

Ya, it's been a week of up and down automotive emotion. Glad she has a new home with someone that will appreciate her. I'm gonna really miss her come fall...
