EGR Valve

im a little new to the base model automatic honda. my egr valve i believe is stuck open and i get a code 12 after driving about a mile, so i think i have a bad valve.also trying to drive up over the mountain a couple of times it almost felt as if my tranny was sliping( really hope not!) ,so my question is does any one know if with the egr valve done for and throwing codes, would this effect the timing or engaging of the clutch/tranny trying to drive over a period of time.... oh and it drives like a champ through the city and such(stop go)...1.5 sohc duel point automaddness!!!!!

I've never seen an EGR valve on a (stock) wagon.

I think they're on most automatics, I think it's time for an engine shot/ecu check. Btw have you checked your kick down cable tension?
