rt4wd new clutch need input

So i have almost everything to swap my z6 into my wagon but i want to replace the clutch while the engine is out. Ive been debating on whether to get a competition clutch stage 4 or clutchmasters fx400. What are your guys experience with these clutches. I plan on boosting my wagon in the near future. Any input is appreciated.

This might not the the popular answer but on a RT4WD I would only change to 1 step above a stock clutch.
    Why?
Trying to preserve the 4wd system which is 20 year old, difficult to repair, and hard/impossible to get parts for.

    1. You most likely are running wider/sticker tires.
    2. You are increasing the power.
    3. You will want to enjoy the power/ grip levels from time to time.

All drivelines have a fuse. What do you want it to be, your clutch or your 4WD driveline?

6puck spec clutch and lightweight flywheel
  • I guess he's running a clutchmasters stage 4. Would want to know if anyones tried the competion clutch.
  • I'm very happy with the clutch masters stage 4, they offer it in a 6 or 4 puck disk, sprung or un-sprung. I chose the 6puck sprung disc. There is one drawl back to the clutch masters stage 4 however, you will need to re-enforce your clutch peddle assembly before driving the wagon around, if you chose not to you will have a broken clutch peddle assembly in a matter of days. You can expect to pay a little under $200 for a shop like mine to professionally remove, weld and re-install it, if your handy with a wrench but not a welder you can ship your clutch peddle assembly to me I can weld and re-enforce the living Sh!T out of it and send if back to you for about $80.

Before I got the clutch masters clutch I was running USED a Spec 6puck clutch kit that came off a core engine. The peddle was much softer and it held up until the disc simply wore out, but keep in mind it had about 30% life left when I installed it.

Comp clutch work very well, the price is a little better than clutch masters, but as the old saying go's your get what you pay for, comp clutch are a little less$$, I've experienced more chattering issues with comp clutch's, over clutch masters but thats just me.
