Suspension and Brake Upgrade HELP

Finally have the time to upgrade my automatic RT's brakes and suspension. I started the project this morning with the master cylinder (traded up to a 15/16 from a 90 prelude), ss lines, and full ceramic pads. After bleeding the brakes I found the pedal to be very soft and had almost no brake pressure when I took it for a short test run...could have been bad. Upon triple checking the lines and entire system, no leaks were discovered. My next idea would be the booster....anyone have some insight?

Here's the list of upgrades/replacements:

15/16 MC installed
SS Lines installed
Ceramic Pads installed
Slotted Rotors installed
New Calipers installed

Tie Rods (inner/outer) installed
Upper Control Arms OEM installed
Ball Joints installed

KYB GR2 w/ Megan Coilover Sleeves installed
Front Strut Bar installed
Rear Strut Bar need to modify
Rear DA Sway Bar Swap waiting on DA LCA

If the booster is bad then my next add on would either be:

A - matched prelude brake booster from MC

OR

B- 02 rsx or something really new to regain the pedal feel (local buddies have a few)

Ideas, comments, nonsense and tomfoolery would be beneficial if the answers lead to completion of this project by Sunday..

Is it a used master cylinder?

Did the brakes work before you started?
  • It is a used master cylinder, but certified reman...and the brakes did work before hand. I could have possibly purchased a faulty master cylinder.

Well, the master is the thing you've changed that would cause that symptom. That, or air in the system somewhere still.

I've not heard of using the Prelude part, are you sure that the piston/pushrod interface is the same? I always get one for a '90-'91 EX.

BTW, what stainless lines did you get?
  • I'm going to re bleed the entire system and see if that helps. Russel SS Lines for a EF Civic w/ Drums
  • Did you bench bleed the master cylinder before install?

Sometimes this can cause an issue if its new. I would also bleed the system a few more times. Then take it out and bed the pads in.
