lower center console fyi

had a lower center console given to me a while back but it was missing the little cubby/personal box/ashtray in it, so its just had a hole exposed. Was looking at photos of the consoles in other threads on different sites trying to get an idea of what might work in there since I didnt have the original cubby. Well while I was out looking for longer seatbelt bolts for my harness bar I noticed the rear ashtrays in the 88-91 preludes looked identicle. So I grabbed them both and tried them once I got home and they are a perfect fit. I checked a few older 84-87 preludes and those ones fit too, but couldnt find any in black. Just posting in case someone esle on here was missing that piece too and didnt wanna spend a gazillion bucks to have one shipped from lands that have cooler parts than us.

    ya, whatever retard owned it prior to me drilled that hole. I jsut havent found anything to plug it with yet. Its also missing the little ceremic protective ring around the lighter.

    kinda crazy seeing the wagon version. Its more upright whereas the hatch version is more laying down and the lighter is more recessed. guess ive never seen both side by side. Ive seen a few different versions for the optional audio console for the hatchys, but have only seen one version for the wagon.

    is your little cubby more of a personal storage box or is it actually a ashtray? either way, thanks for posting.

    My wagon one is different from either of those, hmm. Came from The Netherlands.

    The difference may be that one is wagon specific and the other is EF sedan hatch specific since they also had the option. Same dash and distance to the shift lever cover so it was probably just put in the wrong thing. Just a thought.

    I saw the pics and was thinking to myself "holy shit, what is wrong with my car!?" then I remembered that my car was swapped to manual so I have an auto center console :( but I am still missing the ashtray though it's definitely a different one.

    he probably put it there to run the aux/mini plug to the stereo. I've seen it done that way so you can plug in your IPhone/pod up through the earphone plug

    bam's is the european version, almostnicklees is the optional USDM one. not sure what shenrie's is, as it looks like the ashtray half of it is raised up?

    My ashtray is raised too. In order to fix this, I have to cut a hole out in the plastic piece in front of the shifter where it curves down. That way the ashtray will drop down. Just havn't had the heart to hack up origional plastic. Next time I have to pull the center console out for something, I'll do it. Did anyone else have to do this?
