OBX Header Fitment

I recently purchased a OBX 4-1 Header for my RT4WD because my stock exhaust manifold was in bad shape. However, when I finally tried putting it on it will not clear the Radiator and hits the fan on it. Has anyone else had issues with this? In order to get it to fit, it looks like I'm going to have to do some type of modifications to get some more room. BTW this is on a 92 SOHC ZC engine. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hmm, I'd be more worried about fitment by the differential on the transmission. That's a known issue with all aftermarket headers for the RT's. It might be cause it's a 4-1 instead of a 4-2-1. Pics would help too. :)

There is no direct-fit header for the RT wagon AFAIK. You'll have to "roll your own". Nick's right^^, the 4-2-1 style will be easier to fit. You'll need to offset to clear the transfer case.
  • Think I'm just going to stick to factory. Will be re-selling the OBX 4-1 header.

On the 4WD there's been 2 ways to do it:
    1)Used a Honda 4-2-1 header w/a fabbed 2-1 adapter.
2)Used a Honda 4-2-1 header from a later Civic.I never did figure out what Civic he got it out of.It was some1 on this site.

The standard system on the RTi (JDM RT4WD) uses a 4-2-1 system that joins into 1 before the transfer case. It comes from the SOHC ZC motor.

The manifold is 4-2 and the collector is 2-1. What you can do is take the DOHC ZC 4-2 manifold and the SOHC ZC 2-1 collector if you want to run a 4-2-1 setup on a DOHC ZC in an RT4WD, without pissing around port-matching or re-welding the collector.

Alternatively if you run a SOHC motor you could just use both pieces from the JDM Shuttle RTi and you will have a 4-2-1 system, albeit a 'stock' one.

    Thanks for the good infoHaydz.
I think that member did it w/o ZC parts.

Yep if it was not from an RTi then they would need to modify the collector.
  • Sorry to bump this old thread, but i was looking to get the same OBX 4-1 header, and have a different rad/fan setup. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this header on an RT.

Thread is about a stock RT and the same header you want to get. Nobody knows what radiator or fan you have so nobody can help. Sorry, kinda obvious.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I stated i had a different rad fan setup because OP mentioned his fowled the header. The radiator and fan is not my issue, i want to know whether the OBX header that OP used cleared the stock RT transfer case.

I'd trust that guy for sure!
