seat belt help

Ok so I have them "automatic" seat belts that do not really work any ways but I dont like the fact that they have these huge pieces of nothing in the center that prevent you from enjoying the goodness of armrests. Now is there a way to just get regular seat belts? I have a 1990 wagon all this comes after I get a 116.00 ticket for not weating my seat belt  so anybody have any ideas?

The only thing that I have seen done is getting rid of the auto seatbelts for the 4 or 5 point restraints. Or you can get an armrest from an early 90s Accord and use that with your auto seatbelts. Check out my build thread, that's what I had to use.
As far as switching the head choppers for regular seatbelts. It's possible but how much would you trust a weld holding you in, in the event of an accident?
  • good point JDM, its just that the automatic seatbelts on mine do not work so why have them? Is that an usual problem? but i found a guy here who did a ek center consule and still had the automatic seatbelts he just switched them around. I will have to do the same because i would like to go that route!!!

Mine don't work either. I just have them stuck all the way back. So when I get in, I can still put them on. I just unplugged the box underneath the dash. Also the two fuses connected to the positive battery terminal are for the seatbelts themselves. They should be two yellow(20) fuses. Have your seat belts all the way back and they are still useful. This is just my .02 cents though.
  • Your 2cents are always helpful
  • Check with your dealer most have a lifetime warranty :)
  • All OEM seatbelts should have a lifetime warranty against defect. Check the fuses on the battery, and make sure the harness is plugged in there - I knew my belts worked, but after pulling the engine and putting it back in they didnt - apparently I must've disconnected that harness at some point by mistake?! Anyways, that solved my problem. Took two seconds and they work again.

I do go crazy without an armrest. I am going to go look up your build thread now, JDMWago666. An armrest is on my list of must figure outs.
  • Find a 88-89 and swap out the seat belts. Direct bolt in, just be sure to grab the trim pieces as well.

I am planning the swap myself soon. If I keep the wagon

All the holes, mounts are already on the chassis. Simple swap

    Prove it.

    Charb's right.
  • Hmmm, I saw a wagon at u-pull-it a few weeks ago that had auto belts but it also had the provisions for manual belts. Guess it could have been a conversion but why the heck would you do that. Did the 90-91 Canadian civics have the auto belts? Maybe it was dealership installed.

I figured they were all like this. I'll take a pick next time I see it.
