I have been looking at your build, looks great. And yes I do want to come to the next meet. A friend at work just picked up a wagon, he would probably come as well.

Thanks, lots of man hours. :D
  • I am thinking about lowering the wagon, was thinking about something adjustable. Tokico blues with? Do the civic/crx ones work? and what adjustable springs?
  • driftin90driftin90 Senior Wagonist
ground control just for being able to get what ever spring rate you want. i would have said skunk, but i was reading about their little drama and can't support a company like that. the rest is well ebay. from what i read, skunk is kinda ebay anyways. just a tax cause it says skunk. if you can afford it, i would go koni/gc. that's my plan for the summer. or go with one of the $600 coilovers. progress makes a nice setup as well.

I was looking at some coilovers, megan, skunk 2 and function form. What do you mean ground conrol is that a brand?

yup. they use eibach springs. made in the usa and lifetime warranty.

330 bucks on the web.+ whatever struts, mmm. I like eibach and I run the pro's on my 07 fit. But 330?
  • driftin90driftin90 Senior Wagonist
you got to pay to play. yeah for the same price of them and blues you can get one of the $600 systems. some guys here really liked the godspeed rs. which also have dampening adjustments. progress always get good reviews. but, i myself have thought about the rokkors cause they are cheap and offer 3yr warranty, heard the reviews (not good) and looked into the $600 option, heard good and bad most are made by the same company in taiwan 1yr warranty, then you have the koni/gc for about $800+ which is close to my limit and well worth the extra $200. they both come with lifetime warranties and are made here in the states and the koni struts are rebuild-able and can be re-valved. granted that will cost a lot as well i think about $350 and is for a stiffer spring rate above 500. which i don't need. but is a nice option if i decide to get another civic/crx and decide i want to go auto-x or whatever. you also have tein basics and suspension techniques in the $800 range then h&r in the $1000 and then you are in the "they cost more than my car is worth" territory. or go ebay coilovers and the blues and make or have made top hats and be under the $400 mark but at the expense of ride quality and no warranty but a savings of $200.

these are my opinions and thoughts that i have been going through as well. so sorry if i offend anyone. it seems like it's $200 more at a time or save the $200. so it all depends on your budget. i also put into consideration, the resale value of my car.

here is some good reading http://honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2967499
  • None taken. I just dont want to buy any thing and be stuck with a crappy set up. Is there anything wrong with tokico blues? maybe with the gc's?
  • driftin90driftin90 Senior Wagonist
They are considered an oe replacement. So they may be a little soft dampening wise. I have them now and its ok. Not too bouncy or anything, but still bouncy. If that made sense. Actually have a member here making me a set of top hats hoping to change that a bit. Maybe if I make it out tomorrow, u can take a ride in my wagon. And then by the next meet a week after like the 25th should have them in to see if there is a big difference or not. How low you planning on going?
  • Dont know, I have a guy from work riding down with me, flatsix (za za) is not going to make it. But I should be down there around 8 ish.

Really diggin the progress on this wagon so far. I have two volvo lips that I was going to butcher and make one for my wagon but I like the way you made yours (with the seams on the sides) so I may hold off until I find a third lip. Thanks for that idea.

You only need 2 to do what I did. its not hard to do, I just did not like the way it fit with one.
