Got my brand new Wagon this week !!

I received my new Honda Fit Sport this week in Vivid Blue Pearl with a 5 speed. I had to wait many months to get the manual transmission that i wanted. Honda really has waited FAR too long to get this layout back in it's line-up.
With only 40 miles on it so far, I am completely stunned by how similar it is to my previous 88 & 90 wagons. The layout is exactly the same with 4 doors, the hatch, and the folddown rear floor. Of course being a newer design, there are several improvements, but i am still struck at how familiar the car feels.
The seating position is nice and high like i remember my RT4WD being and the 109 Hp is especially zippy with the 5 speed. It's just weird how BIG the car looks to me. I'm shocked the height looks several inches higher than my wifes new Civic 4door.
Haven't had time to get some pix, but i'll be posting some soon !

here's the Mrs. Civic
the folding flat rear seats ....AWESOME !!
my poor 90 is getting cancer! Anybody know a good inexpensive body shop? I need new paint to go with the new Konigs!
I really like the Vivid Blue
Here's all the horses in the stable
And lastly, the 5 speed that was the given reason for the long wait. It sucks to be in the midwest where companies take their sweet time getting out the new goodies!
This Fit comes with 109Hp and in my humble opinion is very ZIPPY. I can't believe they massaged the extra muscle from the same 1.5 setup. But i'm still enamoured with the quiet sewing machine sounds of a stock Honda 1.5, Thank you very much. For as much as the size of the wagon has increased for it to zoom around using that small a motor and still feel competent, it's just a marvel of engineering.
Your new purchase looks nice, but we demand more pics when you can.
Hope these work better for you guys.
doitdub i agree the mileage isn't great when you compare it to the 80s Hondas and where you'd think they would be now ! If it weren't for the safety Nazis running around demanding an airbag in every crevice maybe the weight of these car would be substantially less. But like i said, for as large as this car is compared to earlier hondas it does get pretty good MPG and feel zippy at the same time.
But i do still think that this car with a 5 speed has more than enough getup and go for my tastes. I can remember the 91 Crx. The Si had 125 Hp and i thought while driving it YIKES! ...this is too much for this small of a car. But there where still people out there wanting to cram Integra motors in to get it up to 200. SO you tell me, if you were shopping for a nice clean CRX right now, would you want an Si that was clean and bone stock OR something somebody shoehorned an oversized motor into? I even drove an 88 Hf. Now that was a little on the doggy side of performance but when you're getting over 40 Mpg you can't really complain. We all know most times you have to choose one or the other.
So i'm gonna stick with my statement that i'm still amazed at what they're getting out of that tried and true 1.5 & i think it's just fine the way it is
My, my, my... doesn't that parking pad and garage look familiar... and remind me of my "2,000 kms in 2 days" road trip to Green Bay to purchase my clean rear hatch.
I agree, the Fit really looks like a space-age version of our much-loved 88 to 91 wagons. Congrats on your purchase. May you enjoy many years with this new Honda !!
Hope that clean hatch is working out for you. Thanks for clearing that much more room in my garage
The Fit has a handfull improvement over the wagon but i see it as the same. Just a newer wagon.
Here a kicker for ya wagon Lovers
What if they came out with a RT4wd FIT??? :?:
it would be something i would buy.
I said the exact same thing yesterday. With an option of a RealTime 4WD this would really be an all weather wonder that would sell like hotcakes. Of course they're not cranking out enough right now to meet the demand, so maybe their not TOO worried about making any upgrades or improvements just yet.
