D16z6 Head Boost build ?'s

I got a new head to build up for my turbo Vitara built rt and was wondering for some advise..
It's a z6 head and so far i have a Comp 59300 cam and Supertech SPR-H1002 Springs plans are to get the head ported and polished as expected and I am shooting for a 9k(ish) redline and around 25lbs for the track with the head fully done. But this is a DD car and will be around 12lbs for the day to day thing
My question is on a Vitara built bottom end would i need new valves for it for clearance issues. I figure with the lower compression pistons and GE rod combo I would be fine but the guy i got the wagon from said i would need new valves. Any advice and or suggestions are appreciated in advance.

Waaaait a minute... did you buy- what I think you bought?

I thought that was you driving it the other day. Wrote it off as a daylight hallucination lol
  • hahaha yes sir.. I saw it was up on cl and i thought who better to have it than me.. Brian said he would much rather me have the beast than another potential buyer.

    stock valves are fine.

what rods are you running with those vitara pistons? it makes a difference if they are standard length or custom length.

i would advise not using a comp cam. they have core issues, the metal is the wrong harness and its porous. ive personally ruined a head running one, and so has a friend of mine. both cams were bought brand new.... :(

also, 9000rpm is a lot for a motor with as much crank as a D16 has. the pistons speeds are really high, especially for a cast piston like the vitara. ive personally tore down 9000rpm vitara motors with less than 2,000 miles on them and the pistons have cracks near the wrist pin. seen this twice personally and even more times on line.

if i was you i would try to keep RPM @ 8000rpm or lower if u want to keep it reliable for a DD.

the head will laugh at 9000rpm with those springs. its the bottom end that id worry about.
  • They are stock length Golden Eagle rods.

you wont have any problems with clearance at all with those rods and pistons and cam.

maybe he said u need new valves for some other reason? perhaps he knows something u dont?
