so as the title says after cleaning my engine.
cleaned the engine. sprayed lots of cleaner around the two solenoid on top of transmission.
would it cause it to go out and not shift anymore.
what does the two solenoids do anyways and can this be the problem?
engine purrs, but the tranny just wont shift out of 1st.
this is killing.
thanks.

Im not a mechanic its my best educated guess from experience. and yes watering down electronics with in the engine bay can cause a lot of problems, if a cleaning is needed you HAVE to give it enough time to dry if not thats usually where all these little gremlins come from.
good luck keep us updated.
Took apart the shift solenoid. Cleaned it now the check engine light goes on, but still won't shift up out of 1st. Good thing is we have code which tells me to disconnect the hazard fuse and leave the ignition to on position.
It worked, it was on shift lock. Never heard of it and how did it get into that position.
Damn gremlins.
Btw, most of the transmission solenoid are no longer available.
I did find a place called "vintage parts inc."
They were the only place that had them for $250.00
Or around that price.
I don't wish what happen to me to anyone.
Mind boggling.
Thanks wagoners!
Thanks guys.
