HF transmission

Will I have to get different axles to swap an HF tranny into my 2wd wagon? I am thinking of using the HF tranny to get better mileage.
If I remember correctly you need to change the hubs on the CRX HF to Si or DX hubs when you swap in an Si motor and tranny. I am trying to go the other way and swap in the HF tranny. :?

Yep.. You need HF hubs.. OR!

HF inner CV axle spline caps and swap them onto your shafts and Bingo.. You have Mutt CV shafts that will work for you.. HF inner shaft and DX outer shaft..

The inner/transmission spline is the same.

I had an HF trans in my wagon early on, and used the original DX axles with no issues. Granted, the car, engine, and transmission were all '90-'91. I don't know if that makes any difference in this area, but you never know- especially with '88s.

there are two things special about HF/STD axles

    their OUTER spline is smaller
their shafts are hollow and light.

the inner spline is the exact same.

just use Si/DX axles to match your DX knuckles

just to confirm whats been said already.

My mileage with the HF trans. and dpfi d15b2 wasn't much different than with a DX trans.
It was like driving a 3speed car, you'd have to be doing 55-60 to even try 4th gear. If you're in a flat part of Texas YMMV. Around here it's just too hilly.

I am going to put an hf trans in my 89 dx hatch, but only when I do my jrsc. I want a little better top speed and to be able to stay there all day.
