now i need your help gents. whats the stock rt4wd wheel width and offset? i want to stay in the stock class and run a larger tire than these 13s will allow.
  • FakeJDMEF8FakeJDMEF8 Senior Wagonist
pretty sure the rt wheels are 14x6 (5.5?!) and +45 offset....
  • AbideAbide Council Member
lol, need to be for sure. the rules allow for oem width and diameter but can only be off by about 3mm in offset to run in stock. i may try to get some diamond racing steelies made or something but i have to be for sure on the size.

update for those that dont follow the facebook page......soooooo i tore my trailing arm bushing right out of the body. looked around for a shell a little, nadda for RTs. My rear quarters were damaged too with rust oh and the subframe. our junkyards here REFUSE to sell whole cars once they have been processed. sooooo this happened......

already swapped the hatch over to my previously white one that was sprayed blue and didnt fit quite right.

the hatch even came with a lovely new previous owner bumper sticker claiming square dancers have more fun. It fits so flush and hopefully wont rattle like the other one did.

well since new rear quarters will be welded in it looks like im going to do a dirt cheap paint job. and since this is the rallyx car it doesnt need to be perfect. any suggestions on color? maybe jut a nice metallic light blue?

this seems fitting to use the word "EPIC" :encouragement:
ghey they wont sell a complete car :/

good luck with the body work! looks like a lot of fun. stay updated on here man

I keep finding more rust.....news one way or another this weekend. Tube frame wagon anyone?
  • AbideAbide Council Member
well folks ive finally caved. I just dont have the time or the cashflow to support the blue wagon resurrection. there was way too much rust. Updates soon. the gold rt will live again by the end of this summer.
  • AbideAbide Council Member
workday projects included stuff on an EVO 8, Abarth, NB Miata, a Saturn Vue, and the ole Blue RT

motor is out, time to finish stripping the good parts and then get it cut up and out from under my carport. Anyone have bubble window removal tips? Then to work on the CRX and get it sold too.
  • AbideAbide Council Member
Had some lovely weather this weekend. Got some work in while it was nice.

a little pressure washing of the ole rt trans

    awww yeaaaah

block was not drilled and tapped its a D16A (no number stamped on the block.) I'ts supposed to be a jdm sohc vtec. Most parts seem to match the D16Z6 though.

had some weird looking bearing codes.....

    Back in the bay.

and as per the usual the gold one claims another knuckle.

I've missed you guys but i hope to be back on the road soonish.
Ive to bolt the entire suspension in, then do all the coolant hoses. then on to wiring stuff back in.
  • AbideAbide Council Member
ITS ALIVE! and back on the road! alignment is supposed to be on my lunch break today. Ill let the pics do the talking.

some friends, girlfriends, and such took it upon themselves to write in the dirt over the last year and half. The car hadn't moved since May of 2012 so there was plenty of dirt as a medium.

had to purchase a new shop vac and the wagon wasnt running yet......soooo I used the work truck

    a little gauge wire management

    And then the weather changed.......

    suspension and brakes are on.

    and some illegal ATE SuperBlue!

first time on the ground in a year and a half and first time actually driving with the plate on!

had to clean up all the dirt drawings and profanity this morning before headed to work. gave it a quick pressure washing at the car wash and cleaned it up a bit.

And everything running well and checking out. lean burning on my way to work for those MPGs! unfortunately the tune is still set for the gearing i had on the CRX with a HF trans so ive got some work to do on my fuel maps

    It's good to be back!

    Well, it's about time!
  • AbideAbide Council Member
throwing the ST sway on this bad boy. a little fine tuning and it'll be time to head to new orleans for the last rallyx event of the year. I made the first two.....i think im out for points this year lol.
  • AbideAbide Council Member
little bit of rallycrossing action this past weekend in New Orleans. was second after lunch 15 secs behind the leader........to pushing too hard in the afternoon trying to keep up with the subies and ending up next to last! Had a blast like every time though!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBKn_weFBao

hopefully more pics from it soon
  • AbideAbide Council Member
    updates? sure why not.

the ole power steering rack finally gave up, and eate two tires and some balljoints with it. :(

only one thing to do, buy everythign to rebuild a manual rack to better than it ever was with a quaife 2.8 (more like 2.4) quick rack and moog rods and honda OEM everything else

    525.jpg
    526.jpg

    a barrel of fun

    527.jpg

    528.jpg

got this clogged piece of junk out

    529.jpg

feels great! a bit more effort than i expected but very manageable and it turns quiiiiick. the only "issue" is you never turn far enough to trip the blinker cancel so you have to remember to turn it off.

so the bad new is on my way back from houston the top bolt that holds the DR side motor mount sheared somehow. (i know i torqued it properly when it went together) and im paranoid about "foreign objects" entering the timing area so i leave the covers on always. which means it got trapped in there. you can see where this is going
20 miles outside of houston on my way to dallas. had to be towed home to shreveport.

    530.jpg

Oh well, wouldn't be my wagon if it wasn't giving me hell i guess.
  • bam-bambam-bam Council Member
So did it mess up anything besides the belt? 503wagon had a similar problem recently and it chewed up the t-belt cog on the crankshaft.
  • AbideAbide Council Member
so i heard, it will crank and run but fuel dumps out. the wideband is a disco light. Valves are definitely bent.
I have some spare heads and ideas, but i wasnt remotely prepared for the downtime or the expense. I needed to bring the s2000 down to to bushings 6 months ago and ive been driving it.
So now im considering getting a daily that's actually reasonable....for me anyway... like an Insight or an Element. We'll see 2015 fits are neat too, but I've said i'll never get a note again.
  • AbideAbide Council Member
Updates.....yeah. Sorry for the year long thread death but I've been busy! I did end up with a red 2001 Insight that has been pumping out tank after tank of 70 miles to the gallon. Loads of fun. However we left the bayous of Louisiana and moved to New Hampshire where ive been sliding through snow, climbing mountains and rallycrossing my tires off! Lost of new parts and updates but i think some pics should do for now.

    Enjoy.

will try to update more frequently!

    One of my runs

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHHO99CtwF8

New catch can, lots of new plumbing, and few more things left to do. Next race isnt until september.
  • Is that fender wrapped or actual carbon fiber?
  • AbideAbide Council Member
if you cant tell then neither will i!

It's a white fender. I didnt want to hurt my stickerbombed by old friends one after i moved so i hung it on the wall.

Bonus though because #1: Charb still hates it and #2 the pinstriping came through.
  • Nice nice, more so just wondering as I have some clean fenders I'm prepping for building molds of for the purpose of reproductions. I didn't want to waste effort if someone actually had a source for them. The pinstripes are funny, and if Charb hates that makes it damn near priceless.
  • Charb hates everything!
  • Yeah but his hands are nice and soft.

    Hey.
I am a member of NER and have run RallyX events there. The next one I will attend is Wolf's chase.
The would be cool, 2 RT4WD at the same event.
