help!! no acceleration going to the motor

this problem started when i came back from work on the freeway i heard a poping noise and the check engine light turned on then it started losing power so i step on the acceleration and the car would just bog. so i went to the shoulder turned it off waited for a hour for it to cool down i started it again turned on perfect. drove it for like 10 min and it did the samething. i thought it was the throttle body so i changed it but it wasnt it. did anyone have a similar problem to this.

  • Try pulling codes, that may give us a clue. Test tps and alternator output.

any information on what caused this? This happened to me last night. Car wouldn't rev over 3k and if I tried it would backfire.

This sounds like a problem I have with another vehicle. My timing belt is stripped, sometimes they skip. I really bent some vaves. Not saying this is your problem but I had the same symptoms.

Take off the timing belt engine and hand spin the crank till your marks line up and see if your crank is at the correct position. Mine was so bad I could spin the crank and the cam belt didn't even move.

Was it back firing out of the intake or exhaust? How did it run till you hit 3 grand?

Im guessing probably limp mode, TPS or possible fuel pressure problem. Is the check engine light on?

I've skipped teeth with my timing belt before too. Check the timing and compression. You can rent the tools for super cheap at Auto Zone or O'Rielly. But it may not be the timing or compression issue if it drives fine for 10 min until it heats up. Check to see if you have spark on each wire when the problem happens. Are your injectors leaking/working properly? May be a fuel issue.
