This is true. I've been to his house. They still shit in an out house lol

But ya, it's very cool. A couple years back I had my car stolen twice in one month. This would have been real nice.

i had a compustar alarm. love them. sick in tired of dei stuff, but i thought dei stole your tech and patent it in the u.s. before compustar did. lawsuit still going?

but anyway, i like how you can get you car back, before they can strip it.
  • I am waiting for more info on all capabilities. It should hit my email today sometime. I'll keep you updated. Wow just checked out drone moblle, they start at $350 for a 1 year.

That's it, I'm just not willing to pay out the ass for anything like that...

I feel like a year back or so I stumbled across a cheap way to do this using a hidden burner phone. I'll do some searching this weekend...
  • Ok.. Here is what I found out. Has real time gps tracking, geo fence, mph alerts, and starter kill. But after writing him he stated he attached the starter kill wire from the device to the ignition wire instead so it would shut down the car while driving if need be. Pretty cleaver. So..... I ordered one 
Should be here in a few days. I'll let y'all know how hard the install is and if it works like stated.

Again $700.00 bucks is where the lojacks price starts. Toooo rich for my blood.

I would say... probably not a stock wagon unless he's or she's desperate Lol. But a swapped, boosted, bagged, slammed or tricked out wagon YES!!
  • Update: Just arrived today 6/11. Should have it installed in a
Day or so just need to fit it into my schedule. I will take pics
    and post while installing.

The gps can be done through a cheap cell phone and some options.

I've got a write up on another site that tells exactly how to do it.

    Cost like 9 or a 10 a month.

Lojack is ok but the issue with lojack is you need to be in an area that is covered.

look around your area with cop cars with three little antenna's on the trunk they are lojack finder cars.

I've heard lots of good stuff about lojack but also heard bad stuff.
  • Wow. Finally had the chance to install this Gps. first I hooked it up as just a real time gps tracker, It was cool. Then I installed it as the Gps with starter disable. I was able to track it and command the starter not to engage like its suppose to according to the directions.
BUT..... Then I installed it again moving the starter interrupt feature to the ignition wire so it will shut the car off on demand like the video. Im going to keep it this way. I like it!

This is the ignition wire. Blk/Yel

The tool I used to get the ignition wire out. I didnt want to cut the harness.

Tool goin in and wire comin out.

Again, I didnt want to cut harness so i made a section that would work.

Installation instructions are self explanatory. Plus im working out a deal if I buy more than one.

Total cost was $200.00 including shipping and shut down relay with harness and 4500 locates.
    No monthly fees or contracts.

The best thing is I got a user ID and password for my GPS. I get to locate it and shut it down personally. I dont need to call someone like lojack.

The prob with your system is it's only good for 3 years.

The LoJack someone told me is good for life (w/o monthly fees(I've NOT verified this))and has a better chance of being around later than the above "start-up".
  • To respond to your post .

#1 The prob with your system is it's only good for 3 years.

It has a full 3 year warranty with 4500 locates and after 3 years its only $30 bucks for an additional 500 locates per year for as many years that I want to continue for. PLUS I can remove it myself and reinstall it in another car if I sell the one its in.

#2 The LoJack someone told me is good for life (w/o monthly fees(I've NOT verified this))and has a better chance of being around later than the above "start-up".

I called LoJack and found some answers: Yes you are correct the $700 includes your lojack with a 2 year warranty + $300.00 for early warning detection = $1000 or $1100 with a 4 year warranty including early warning dectection, but as you stated NO monthly fees. I figured the $200 I spent was a deal for the 3 year coverage.

    Only time will tell.....
  • freddy, whats the gps tracking device that u installed called??

I'm going to bring this topic back from the dead.

What do people use now? What's the cheapest option to simply track your car i.e. do people use pet trackers on their cars or does the signal get disrupted by the metal?

    Cheers!

EDIT: while doing a bit of a search I came across this: http://www.trademe.co.nz/electronics-photography/gps/gps-accessories/auction-555495829.htm
  • FYI, your only legally aloud to put a tracking device in a car that is registered in your name, had a buddy try to catch his girlfriend cheating and got charged with FELONY Stalking! I'm just saying........

Can't remember the name off the top of my head, but there is a dog tracking system that uses gps. There is an app to track and everything. It's like $100 a year for service. But that's less than $10 a month to know where your car is at all times. This is what I'm planning. I'll try and dig up a link.
  • ^^^^^ that sounds awesome AND cheap.

I'm actually looking into a new car alarm and I came across this http://www.antitheftdevice-vstart.com/ it's only about 55 bucks but could this actually work? Couldn't find any reviews on it but I'm a little tempted to try it.
