This is true. I've been to his house. They still shit in an out house lol
But ya, it's very cool. A couple years back I had my car stolen twice in one month. This would have been real nice.
i had a compustar alarm. love them. sick in tired of dei stuff, but i thought dei stole your tech and patent it in the u.s. before compustar did. lawsuit still going?
but anyway, i like how you can get you car back, before they can strip it.
That's it, I'm just not willing to pay out the ass for anything like that...
I feel like a year back or so I stumbled across a cheap way to do this using a hidden burner phone. I'll do some searching this weekend...
Should be here in a few days. I'll let y'all know how hard the install is and if it works like stated.
Details, please...
Again $700.00 bucks is where the lojacks price starts. Toooo rich for my blood.
I would say... probably not a stock wagon unless he's or she's desperate Lol. But a swapped, boosted, bagged, slammed or tricked out wagon YES!!
Day or so just need to fit it into my schedule. I will take pics
and post while installing.
I've got a write up on another site that tells exactly how to do it.
Cost like 9 or a 10 a month.
Lojack is ok but the issue with lojack is you need to be in an area that is covered.
look around your area with cop cars with three little antenna's on the trunk they are lojack finder cars.
I've heard lots of good stuff about lojack but also heard bad stuff.
BUT..... Then I installed it again moving the starter interrupt feature to the ignition wire so it will shut the car off on demand like the video. Im going to keep it this way. I like it!
This is the ignition wire. Blk/Yel
The tool I used to get the ignition wire out. I didnt want to cut the harness.
Tool goin in and wire comin out.
Again, I didnt want to cut harness so i made a section that would work.
Installation instructions are self explanatory. Plus im working out a deal if I buy more than one.
Total cost was $200.00 including shipping and shut down relay with harness and 4500 locates.
No monthly fees or contracts.
The best thing is I got a user ID and password for my GPS. I get to locate it and shut it down personally. I dont need to call someone like lojack.
The LoJack someone told me is good for life (w/o monthly fees(I've NOT verified this))and has a better chance of being around later than the above "start-up".
#1 The prob with your system is it's only good for 3 years.
It has a full 3 year warranty with 4500 locates and after 3 years its only $30 bucks for an additional 500 locates per year for as many years that I want to continue for. PLUS I can remove it myself and reinstall it in another car if I sell the one its in.
#2 The LoJack someone told me is good for life (w/o monthly fees(I've NOT verified this))and has a better chance of being around later than the above "start-up".
I called LoJack and found some answers: Yes you are correct the $700 includes your lojack with a 2 year warranty + $300.00 for early warning detection = $1000 or $1100 with a 4 year warranty including early warning dectection, but as you stated NO monthly fees. I figured the $200 I spent was a deal for the 3 year coverage.
Only time will tell.....
What do people use now? What's the cheapest option to simply track your car i.e. do people use pet trackers on their cars or does the signal get disrupted by the metal?
Cheers!
EDIT: while doing a bit of a search I came across this: http://www.trademe.co.nz/electronics-photography/gps/gps-accessories/auction-555495829.htm
Can't remember the name off the top of my head, but there is a dog tracking system that uses gps. There is an app to track and everything. It's like $100 a year for service. But that's less than $10 a month to know where your car is at all times. This is what I'm planning. I'll try and dig up a link.
