Some more work on the brake lines, Slow progress...
So because im tucking/ simplifying the brake lines, im running them behind the dash, so ive drilled and used 2 steel bulkhead fittings. Was going to run the flexy direct from the bulkhead to the caliper, but now going to run a short hardline from the bulkhead to the perch.
Been toying with rear difuser and splitter ideas. Going to Half-Cut the bumper anyway. 3 styles ive come up with - Flush fogs, Double small release plates, single large release plate.....
Got hold of some spares last week from a shuttle doomed for the oval...Managed to get a fulls set of manual windows, mirrors, bonnet, bumpers wings etc...
So first job today was to swap all the regulators over, before and after...no more hot wiring the windows to get them down.
Next on the agenda today was some structural cutting...
Have decided to go Hard line from the bulkhead fitting to the brake flexi perch. So after what seemed like a 100 attempts at making this short, but fairly simple looking brake line...I finally got it right without it looking like ass!
So i've sold the electric windows and mirrors, so being the good person i am, i spent most of today de-pinning the wiring harness for both the windows and mirrors, pin by pin! instead of chopping it out.
Took out the looms for the Windows and Mirrors. also toom some other misc wiring out, mainly to do with speakers etc. Got quite alot of working to bin from the Dash and interior looms aswell. Stereo, heaters etc...
Loving that rear bar and the dimple die plate. Dimple dies, a hell of a way to make something that looks decent, look absolutely amazing. Was that bar welded in to place with the rear end loaded or unloaded? Just curious as I remember I wasn't able to get my front brace on until I jacked up the front end and it flexed out a little. Then it dropped right into place.
It fit perfect, i then got a little carried away and welded the entire thing on the bench in one session. so it warped like a banana...I got it straight though and it fits perfect once again. The amount of PM's and ive through various websites, facebook it about having one made is unreal. So ill be making a JIG to make the braces on the bench, will help minimise warping then
Absolutely man, it seems like it's fairly easy to knock together as well, If you can find a cheap place to coat them. Maybe fab some up and sell em. Or hell sell em raw and people coat/paint them themselves. I'm sure you could find someone to do some vinyl lettering to stick on em as well. I could probably put my vinyl cutter back together and knock some out, or I'm sure Penro would be willing to assist.
One comment on them, and this would just be for slight modification, and would add to the construction of them so might just be a no go. But I could see them coming off the struts. Doing a turn down, then back to running horizontal. Probably figuring out the exact geometry and what angle to cut so you can then just rotate cut section and weld. And having just enough clearance to clear the carpet back there. That way if someone was running interior, these would tuck down there nice and tight and be minimally obtrusive. Might be something to think about, especially if you can knock one of these out in the spare time at a cost that's minimal enough to be able to supplement the wagon building funds.
Best looking rear brace I've seen either way, so good job on it.
The angle of the studs on the coilovers is 10 degrees when loaded, so the tube mounts are at 10 degrees. so they match the angle of the coilovers when bolted down.
Just dropped it off to be coated. hopefully see if on my store in the next few days,

Also got hold of another clear cam belt cover seeing as they are flooding the market currently.
also did a bit more work on the fuel lines. Fitted the return bulkhead and the fuel tank feed banjo.
More soon...hopefully.

That is all...
also started on the rear bumper, filling and smoothing the fog holes. More on that in the next few updates.

So satisfying making things with your own hands.
Just needs fitting up :top:
Made a rear brace for the wagon.
Just got finish it off. weld on the dimple die plate, then off to powdercoating.
