Ordered some new scuttle panel clips as they had all gone brittle and snapped.
Finally got hold of an engine crane to borrow, so time to strip the old block down. you will remember rebuilt the head just before christmas, with the smoking deemed to be the block, i decided i will re-use it on the block. I also needed the oil pick up, as i need to use an A6/A9 sump to clear the gearbox, i also need the matching oil pickup (the Z6 one is to tall, it bottoms out on the bottom of the sump, meaning it will not bolt up)
Also cleaned the new sump up. its in fantastic condition, but needed a tidy up, sanded it all down using 320 and 240 on my mini-da sander, couple coats of Etch, couple coats of Satin black
I wanted to re-assemble the new engine today, but with a lack some tools needed, some RTV and some ARP grease. So thats all ordered now.
Stripped the paint off the rocker. i had painted it before, but it had become putting with the paint flaking. possibly due to lack of etch primer and cleaning
Got the head torqued down.
Also trying to decide on colour matching for the engine bay. had bought some PWJDM Washers in silver/polished.
I took the Oil pump apart again and gave it another porting session, got hold of a Die Grinder which made the process easier (had been using a cordless drill beforehand!) Back together with a new crank seal.
New sump gasket, on the new sump went!
hopefully the oil pump doesn't eat itself alive on first start...
Very clean, love the ports on the valve cover. For the fender washers I'd say silver, unless you're going with the red and blue style hose fittings, in which case they would complement the valve cover and the fender washers nicely.
Looks good! Hope to finish my this week! You should put some thicker oil (glue type) in oil pump! I did in mine, and turning it with fingers you can already hear how it sucks air!
I say You should go with red washers on fenders and silver in bay. Too much accent on color mix has never looked good! That's my opinion..
Engine and box is in, but has no flywheel or clutch! Say Waa?! Im hoping to have the wagon trailered to JAE for me this year so it can be on the 4GUK Stand. I also need to do some mock up work with the PAS lines, Brake lines etc. So engine will be coming back out after JAE to finish that up.
So a minor issue i had before was with the power steering high pressure hose. With the charger the hose was too short, i had to bend the hardline on the subframe to get it to clear - even then it chafing on the charger. So i need to extend it.
being stubborn, i want to use AN Fittings rather than some functional hose from Pirtek...
So heres is the high pressure outlets from the pump.
Taped to 1/4" BSP
1/4" BSP to -6 Earls fitting.
How the hardline...-5 Tube nut and sleeve, with correct flare.
Then using a -5 to -6 Adapter, Running -6 Earls Braided PAS Line. Easy Peasy!
After another afternoon on the Wagon, todays task was cleaning the inside aswell as removing the rest of the interior. upon removing the rear cargo boxes revealed yet more rust, i was expecting to find rust - Luckily it isn't as bad as i thought it might of been, All is fixable! there is some more rust in the rear side storage pockets i have not posted any pictures off, mainly because they are irrelevant, as the rear storage pockets and spare wheel well will be cut out and flat-bottomed.
Been to the local scrappy today in hunt of firewall grommets to little success. Poor selection of Hondas at my local! But i did get a few bits.
EK Wiring loom grommet, will be using this as the ONLY entry point of any wiring into the Bay, will be locating this using an existing hole at the bottom of the firewall behind the alternator.
Well received at JAE! Unfortunately i didn't have time to install the aero on the front end, so it didnt look as Aggressive as i would have liked. Mixture of hate (Mainly by Supra Owners...) Confusion, WTF and awesomeness. Managed to Borrow a Turbo just for the show just so peeps got an idea of what the build was about.
Looks great Eden! In for the final build and results.
Cheers Man! Progress is on and up! Im more in love with it that ever after the attention is got this weekend, both at the JAE show and through Social Media!

So, until that turns up. thats it for now.
Are you planning on adding a skid plate to your oil pan?
this shuttle is going to be nuts.
Cheers man!
Nope! I will be raising a car to a more practical height for trackdays, aswell as a front underbody pan should protect it from any unlikely damage.
Head studs in...

Prepared subframes for paint.

Gave the gearbox a bloody deep clean and lick of paint.
Also removed the bash guard off the gearbox. it had collected about 2kg's worth of dirt over the years! Cleaned it, prepped it. painted it...
Newly painted box next to my spare one...
Thats all for now...
