Well spent a bit of time this morning with a heat gun and scrapper trying to carefully scrape the red paint off the rear bumper. Its going well and coming off pretty easily but it started bloody raining!

I hate not having a garage to work in!
I got most of the rear bumper done, there is still a few niggly cunty spots to do, so when it stops raining I might attack them.

A couple of pics of the progress so far, the wind has picked up so I dont think I will get much more done today..

Will look rel good once we paint it black too :)
  • 666DAN666DAN Wagonist
Yeah man! I had a good look at the front bumper and that looks like it was primered first and isnt flaking at all so I am just gonna scuff up the paint and chuck the black on over top.

Got a little more done on the rear bumper too :D So not long till it needs painting!

Here's my 5 min rendition of if the car had black bumpers, sackaged, and was painted on the doors too.

And if you were still i the 90s and had neons like everyone else.

  • 666DAN666DAN Wagonist
Hahaha cheers bro! I think the neons are my favourite bit :D

Got a chance to paint the front bumper in bumper black today, I am pretty stoked with how it has turned out. I have a bit more prep to do on the rear bumper before I can chuck some paint on that.
I plan on painting all the side trims and mudflaps too.

Looks good, so not painting the lower part of doors? We could mock it up byt painting some paper and sticking it on... lol
  • 666DAN666DAN Wagonist
I havent decided if I will paint the lower parts of the doors yet but I am thinking I wont at this stage.

WOW, I love that... Sooo clean. Good job.
Can't wait to get this done on the CRX.
  • 666DAN666DAN Wagonist
Its amazing how much of a difference it has made! I cant wait to do the rear bumpr and side trims.

I may have missed it (limited internet access atm) but what paint have you used there? I am about to get my Shuttle painted and want to get some of the black bits touched up
  • 666DAN666DAN Wagonist
Its just K & H Bumper & Trim Paint from Repco. As it stands at the moment I would recommend it because of easily it went on and the finish is better than I expected.

The proof will be in how it ages and weathers

RE painting the doors - check this out

It really needs the second black stripe in my opinion, just breaks it up a bit more.

Looks hella good with the black bumpers mang!
  • 666DAN666DAN Wagonist
    Cheers bro!

I really dont know about that second stripe TBH, I think if I was to do it I would have some sort of signwriting/text in the black areas of the doors. Kinda like the 80's DOHC Lasers/323's had. I will try and find a pic of what I mean...
  • P WizzP Wizz New Wagonist
hahah yeah I know what you mean!! Its just that just the 'monoblock' of black kind of overpowers the profile view of the car..it needs something to 'break it up'

What was the word on teh side of the shuttle at PaP, there was one of those over the red part of the door if you remember?
  • 666DAN666DAN Wagonist
    Nah I cant remember bro...

Got my rear bumper done today

I am going to do the mudflaps and side trims for sure now, would be good if I could do it today but I have a sick kid at home that was awake all night and I need a Nana nap!
  • Not much has been happening lately, have put original wheels back on and the original steering wheel, she also got a wash and polish today :D .

Have also started advertising it for sale....kinda need a change and if I get the right offer I will sell and sink some coin into my crx and if I dont get a good offer I will carry on driving it as my daily and possibly make a few mor subtle changes.
  • 666DAN666DAN Wagonist
Still haven't sold the Shuttle so I might start getting stuck in to the work that needs doing since im back using my crx for my daily.

I slammed the shuttle back down to the height it was when I got it and chucked the Advans back on aswell.

    Shuttle looks awesome
  • Hahaha the beauty of having beaches that you can drive on in New Zealand!
  • Your wagon looks awesome. You and P Wizz make me regret getting a fourth gen! haha
  • Thanks dude! 4th gens are awesome too, I love them and if I could I would have one aswell!
  • nice 3rd gen. whats the max you can drop the front?
  • SiRgeSiRge Wagonist
If you re index the torsions.... as lowe as the subframe/sump will let you. Currently his is done with short nuts to whorey the lowering, but we will be re index it in the future, just a little short of time. Shits chaos at the moment.

PWizz's shuttle has done it legit with bilsteins, re-index torsions and adjustable pan head rod
