$700 with a leaking head gasket, rusted out around the windshield, and tires that badly needed replacement.
I promptly spent $700 on new wheels and tires, and eventually spent another $785 getting the windshield replaced and the rust fixed. I still haven't fixed the head gasket or the leaking / rattling exhaust. I want to swap in a B20... maybe with my next income tax return.
Paid $700 for mine with about 230k on the clock. It's a RT4WD with the 5-speed and SL, and a WEAK engine. Drove it home about 100 miles, but had to stop at my friends shop halfway to try to make it run better. When I rebuilt the engine it had 3 burnt exhaust valves, no wonder it was so hurt driving home. Runs great now and gets 31 MPG even with the low gearing. It's the same cruising RPM as my old '88 CRX Si on the highway, but there's room for stuff ! I love it !!!
I paid $1400 for mine and the only two things wrong with it were that the muffler was missing and it needed a new distributor. So I believe I made out pretty well with the car for what the seller was originally asking for it.
I paid $450 for mine. It's beat up, wasn't running, etc. Today I swapped out the dizzy and the starter and it fired up. I need to time it but it runs... Also got some body work to do but overall I'm happy with the purchase so far.
wow i traded my dead 74 corolla mango for a 90 civic wagon which in my opinion was worth more then the running wagon.
seems like everywhere except california everyones getting theres for a killer deal. cant find one here for under $1k thats. i would love to find a rtawd for under $1500.
Ran great when warmed up, everything works, AC, heat, 4WD, everything
Need to install a new thermostat, fan switch, and fix the cold stall issue then take it through emissions. Already put new shoes on it so total is up to $2000
Just bought mine for $1200 has runs great so far but also of course needs some work.
Paint job is horrible has been lowered some and rear struts are like they are not even there.
Other then that just some minor things here and there.
I bought my 1987 Honda civic wagovan 2wd for $750 about a year or so ago. I went to look at it with my friend, since he knows a little more about cars then me. We talked with the guy and all he said it needed was a good tune-up, we drove it around and came back and bought it. Drove it home and parked it, then it wouldn't start again. and ever since its been problems after problems, but i just cant help but love it i think it was a good purchase, its nice to look at until it gets running, but I cant even count how much money has gone into it since I've bought it.

I apparently paid too much for my 91 5-speed 2wd. But I was starting to get desperate. I paid 1600 in August(site unseen, because my Dad found it for me), and it needed a clutch, burns oil, and the interior is pretty rough.
My first 91 2wd 5-speed I bought back in 1999 for $2500 off a Crystler lot with 120,000 miles and perfect interior and body (I talked them down form $4000). Seemed like a heck of a deal for any 91 Honda at the time. I have a feeling that was well before civic wagons had a cult following though.
$350. Needed a timing belt (head was probably ok, but I put a used one on it). 125K miles on it when I got it. I've only put like 600 on it since I've owned it.
Its pretty straight, save for a few dents in the hood. Sold the RT wheels for $150 to a buddy.
Needs more turbo... in the spring, once the drag car is finished.
I bought my '90 2wd for $100CAD in October 2010. It had no back window, no muffler, 2 flat tires, a weak battery, noisy left front wheel bearing (still does haha!), but started and ran like a HONDA! I've invested probably $500 in parts and maintenance since then. Best car purchase I've ever made...period (price wise!).
The timing was set wrong, so it had an obvious lack of power. Even when I set it right, it still didn't pull like it should. Then one day the radiator hose burst, and it overheated. I got it home and pulled the plugs to check the compression, and one if the plugs stripped all the threads coming out. Seemed like a good time to swap in my Z6. Good thing too. Every bolt I touched on the A6 motor was either way too tight, loose enough that i didn't need a socket, or just missing altogether.
First pic i took the day I got it, hadn't even left the parking lot yet!
As it is now, with the Z6 swap, accord lip, and LS wheels.

The Orthia set me back $NZ12k when I bought it back in '04, had ~90,000 km on the clock.
Thanks! Feels like its about time to get this thing back out to some meets.
